You might need to have your TV calibrated.

If your TV looks close to the pics posted and Val's look more realistic your settings on your TV are off and you may need to have the TV calibrated.

By chance what Picture Mode is your TV set to?

^ This shot though makes it looks like a sci-fi movie.

It's fine for a drive-in disc, if you know what to expect.

Dynamic. Standard always looked flat to me. Dynamic brings out the brightness and lush colors and detail on my set.

It does make it brighter, more 'contrasty' and the colors "pop" but they are wildly inaccurate. It also makes your brightness (blacks) and contrast (whites) way off too. You are used to it already so you probably won't want to change it but if you are interested here is a very basic how to guide to get you started. https://www.rtings.com/tv/learn/how-...ibrate-your-tv

AVS Forums has nice DVD you can burn and do some basic settings with as well. Be aware that even though you calibrate your TV, your bluray player usually needs calibration as well (new Sony 4K players have a DIRECT setting which bypasses that crap, but they are one of the few)

I am ISF (Imaging Science Foundation) certified to calibrate TV's. I don't do it anymore, don't have the equipment but I did for a few years.

Well, that explains it. I'm not sure how you find your picture to be preferable to Val's, but, hey, to each their own. As long as you're happy, that's what matters. I would suggest deleting your previous post, though, since it presents a wildly inaccurate representation of how the disc actually looks and might mislead some people

Dynamic setting is god awful and artificial looking.

However at the opposite end of the range, I had a friend of mine professionally calibrate my projector, I trusted his judgement and watched everything with his settings for like a year and a half.

Recently I paused the image with a sample of a few movies and switched the settings around. The professionally calibrated settings I have been using forever have a washed out muted color pallet and is way too dark. My friend would say the "colors are natural". The standard setting looks way better with much better colors and brightness without being blown out and artificial like dynamic.

Part of the problem is most cheaper calibration tools people who arent full time ISF professionals use are inaccurate sensors and hence can lead to a disappointing image even if the software says its calibrated.

Another problem is people don't take care of their equipment properly as well. Your light meter can become un-calibrated and will need to be sent away to be set back up properly. You also have to set the white balance reference on your meter too. If you reference white has something on it then your settings will be off.

The important thing a calibration does that you can't do by eye is set the colors correctly. You may think your Red is red but you have no real reference or way to measure it with out proper equipment. Brightness and Contrast can be set yourself by your own preference. There is the reference threshold but it can be adjust to what you like.

When you’re working with an old personal 35mm print it’s only going to look the best it can and upon my viewing last night of God’s Bloody Acre i can tell you that it looks the best it has ever looked despite the heavy issues with colors varying but what do you expect from an old 35mm print in this type of shape? Gloria looks great and the audio on both of these sound good. You either buy it or you don’t but again this is just my opinion. I quite frankly feel i got my money’s worth with this release.
Thank you slasher disc and this is the more accurate review. We were lucky to be able to do anything on God's Bloody Acre to be honest. Wayne Crawford seems to have had the only surviving print that was in hellacious condition as seen on the previous DVD release. It will never be perfect but some of the wear actually adds to the nostalgia of watching a great 70's drive-in grind house movie. The blu is a huge upgrade from the DVD release period. Yes there are some scenes mostly at the beginning and fortunately not very long ones where the color was fluctuating and unfixable. But we did do the best color correction we could when it was transferred to HD. Then we had the best restoration guys at Fotokem in Los Angeles tackle the horrendous green lines that made it really unwatchable. I personally thought they did a great job at getting rid of most of the bad ones that were in critical scenes. Bottom line if you love this movie as much as I do you will not be unhappy with this great upgrade. Not to mention you get another great upgrade on the very cool So Sad About Gloria. And the cool retro drive-in format these two are presented in. And that's the bottom line cause Stone Cold says so! DDD

Thank you, I appreciate the info!

I'm going to put the blame on my camera phone which does have a habit of making images look much more vibrant then they actually are before tweaking them. Upon further inspection of the films I did realize that those pictures I posted do not represent very well especially in the last pic. My apologies to those who felt misled as I was trying to get something out there as quickly as possible.

I pretty much did the same as yourself, I had a friend calibrate mine and then I upped the colours as it was way too muted. For both my PS4Pro and 4kTV I have RGB set to full for deeper and more detailed blacks, otherwise every other process is turned off and sharpness @ zero which is the general rule for a more pleasing image...

Completely depends on your TV model. Sony's from the last two years add no artificial sharpening between 35-40, but if you go below it does an inverse effect on lines and you get inward halos, it's very strange. But Vizio's, Samsungs, Panasonics, they always have had a setting of zero for no artificial sharpening.

The Police Connection: long “OOP”, “won’t be sold after rights expire”, is back for sale at DF for a bucket list price .

Bill hates this, but there’s no such thing as a “SOLD OUT” or “OOP” CR title. It dosent exist .

RUINED is still waiting for defective release,The Carrier, to become valuable cause DF said it’s “OOP by CR”...whatever that means .

LOL. Wasn't Police Connection $40 a few weeks ago? Now it's $3 cheaper.
