HDR 10+ is coming to a bunch of 2019 televisions and players, they're just mostly not out yet.

Also, some of these posts just further make me wish Panasonic still made TVs for the US market. Would love to be able to check out one of their OLED sets. |

Sorry for the possibly stupid question, but if I have a BD-player and TV that supports Dolby Vision (and not HDR10+), will I still get the "regular" HDR10 format when playing these HDR10+ discs?

Yes, the default HDR format is always static HDR10 for Dolby Vision or HDR10+ if your equipment isn't compatible. HDR10 is used as the base HDR layer for the UHD Blu-ray spec if the other formats aren't utilized. Even Dolby Vision on disc's first layer is HDR10 (or HDR10+ on upcoming Lionsgate discs) and then the secondary extension data layer adds to it. Now, HDR grading and encoding don't have to be used, but the vast majority of 4k discs have HDR. Last edited by FilmFreakosaurus; 03-13-2019 at 12:43 AM. |

And HDR and WCG are not one and the same.
So you can have 709 and HDR, BT2020 (WCG) and HDR, BT2020 without HDR I can’t remember where but a member here in one of the thread was wringly spewing HDR and WCG ate together and one can’t be without the other. |
