Could we at least not blame TB for the mess that was Through The Looking Glass? He didn't direct it.

And though I'm just speculating, I'd be pretty sure this movie plays much better for younger viewers.

I saw this Saturday with my wife and our two boys. They all liked it. I thought it was....pretty good. I was very surprised at how much was changed from the original. I thought Devito, Green and Keaton all did a good job with their roles. The minor gripe I have though, was the cameo of
[Show spoiler] of Michael "Let's get ready to rumble!" Buffer. It was just odd, weird and...out of place. lol

I give it 3.5/5.

I mean he hasn't done something that was jacksquat since Sleepy Hollow, perhaps maybe Big Fish. Frankenweenie and Corpse Bride i liked.

Loved Sweeney Todd and Big Fish. Haven't seen his recent films (Peregrine, Big Eyes, Dark Shadows, Dumbo).

Same here. ST and BF especially were fantastic.

You’re doing yourself a favor there.

Big Eyes was probably his best recent one.

His recent works after Sweeney Todd were less interesting to me, except for Peregrine. That one was slightly above average, felt like his old work. I can tolerate Planet of the Apes but I might be alone there. I haven't seen Big Eyes and Dumbo.

Love Disney. Love Dumbo 1941. Of the remakes, I like The Jungle Book and Christopher Robin and think Beauty and the Beast is average.

Wow I HATED this. The child actors were just terrible, I don’t know what Michael Keaton was going for, poor Alan Arkin was cringy. I enjoyed Colin Farrell and the lovely Eva Green. All of the attempts to duplicate the cartoon were really really bad. Baby Mine? I loved the trailer version, but the short campfire song? Lame. Pink Elephants on Parade? Awful. Why was it cutting so rapidly during that scene, and often back to a closeup of Dumbo’s fake looking face? And “Let’s get ready for DUMBOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!” is the worst thing I’ve seen in any of these remakes so far, including Johnny Depp’s dance in Alice in Wonderland.

I was looking forward to this, so disappointing. Score: D or 2/10

I think Burton's films are quirky and idiosyncratic, and there doesn't seem to be a middle ground. It seems to me people either like a particular film of his, or really dislike it. It's a binary thing.

Saw this last night and it was barely ok. I will not be adding it to the movie collection though as I only add Movies with replay value for me. Can’t see myself or my kids wanting a 2nd watch.

I had a great time with this movie, it was a lot of fun. I'll be buying the Blu-ray on day 1 for sure.

I was expecting a surplus of cute close-ups, but Burton does surprisingly little to win us over. He's never been big on treacle, but a bit more warmth in this chilly movie, which barely follows the outline of the 1941 original, would have gone a long way.

Bland remake with no magic. It didn't even feel like a Burton film other than it was mostly dark. Pointless.

Good to see the positive reviews. But with the Sinemia scam, seeing Endgame multiple times, and all the other movies coming out I want to see, I don’t know how I’m going to be able to see everything I want to see this summer!
