Default Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous (Netflix, 2020)

Set within the same timeline as the 2015 blockbuster film, Jurassic World, the Netflix original series is inspired by the multi-billion-dollar franchise from Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment.

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous follows a group of six teenagers chosen for a once-in-a-lifetime experience at a new adventure camp on the opposite side of Isla Nublar. But when dinosaurs wreak havoc across the island, the campers are stranded. Unable to reach the outside world, they’ll need to go from strangers to friends to family if they’re going to survive.

Scott Kreamer (Pinky Malinky) and Lane Lueras (Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny) serve as showrunners and executive producers. The series is executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall, and Colin Trevorrow. Zack Stentz serves as consulting producer.

Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous builds on a successful five-year relationship between DreamWorks Animation and Netflix that has seen 18 original series debut on the service, including the Tales of Arcadia trilogy from Guillermo del Toro, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Spirit Riding Free, and The Boss Baby: Back in Business. Following NBCUniversal’s acquisition of the studio, DreamWorks Animation and Netflix expanded their relationship to include first looks at animated series based on Universal Pictures properties as well as original and acquired IP.

DreamWorks and Netflix have produced some solid kids programming together, so this could be good. The premise doesn't particularly grab me, but as a Jurassic Park fan, I'll give it a try.

I wonder what other Universal properties they might expand on too?

People: The worst thing about Jurassic World was the kids.
Universal: Let's make a Jurassic World TV series ONLY about kids.

I'm intrigued by this concept. Sounds fun. Spielberg's involvement with animation is always top-notch, too.

I love how a 45 second teaser has a 5 min video that's "sponsored" by the movie it's inspired from. Anyway, visually speaking, it looks better than I thought it would be.

With this being an Amblin production, I wonder if they would consider doing an E.T. series? I can see a lot of great ways to expand on that in an animated series.

DreamWorks and TV makes me automatically think of the 2d animation like most of the TV spinoffs have, so it's nice that it's CGI like Dragons was. Not sure I'd watch it though.

Wonder if people are actually gonna get eaten in this, it's a staple of the franchise, even if this is an animated series

The kids do seem annoying - but I am so glad they're keeping the peril. The dinosaurs are actually trying to eat the kids (and that shot with the mosasaur actually looked terrifying). I was worried this was going to be like that Netflix Kong show where the dinosaurs just act menacing but there's never any actual danger.

The Fast and Furious animated series Dreamworks did was about as bonkers as the movies.

This looks to follow the Trollhunters formula with characters in constant threats. And Trollhunters had people DIE
