I'm not sure what Arnie will have the set listed for when it's ready to go. It isn't a Thunderbean title; we;re just helping on the digital restoration/ cleanup aspects. I'm hoping we'll be all done with our part this week. They are honestly looking spectacular. I've had almost everyone on them just to get them done faster, after 6 months of doing almost all the work myself on them...

Just checked back through my paypal transactions and tallied I've got 12+ discs on order. Boy that would be Christmas in July (nearly) if they all showed up at once. lol.

Th big goal over the summer is wrapping a lot of these up, together as much as possible. Wrapping each project is really a challenge- they all need such different things to get all the films done for each.

Some Minutia from this week and the one upcoming. Glad I have folks working on cleanup freelance and at the office:

Trying hard to get the Puppetoons off my plate right now. They look great, but cleanup costs mounted high to make them look that good and we're poor this week now! We have to get Thunderbean's part done this week at the latest. I just finished another tonight here.

Just got a *mint* 16mm on Parrotville Old Folks to scan- looks like it was never run- not a splice and image (to naked eye) looks mint. Probably the best print in existence on this title. I really couldn't ask for better. I promised to get it back fast- but going to Toronto to scan this week is looking really hard to impossible.

I just offered the owner of a better element on 'Rag Dog' a couple of hundred to borrow it to scan (it's in his storage, and $200 really is required to go in there!).

A curve ball was thrown on Flip's soundtracks this week, but I hope its just a speed bump and will end up producing a much finer version of the soundtracks.

Talk with co-producer on Grotesqueries and tried to see if we can wrap up the title this week. He's an hour and half from here, but I'll go there every day if we can actually get this thing in the can.

Hoping to see co producer of the Poetry films of Edgar Guest this week too.

I'm supposed to evaluate a bunch of Nitrate this week- 40 minutes from here-- if I can manage to find a few days. Yeah right.

The real thing I was hoping was to get to the Telecine here this week and wrap up even more small pieces of projects- especially 'special' sets.

I have summer off from my 'real' job--- but heck, this job is way more complicated on some weeks! Not sure what order all this will happen this week, but it will happen...

The scan session today was really good and productive. I'm going to be sorting out the pieces for a few days and licking my financial wounds a little, but so many cool things just got scanned!

The last of the 'All Censored' stuff is on its way here right now, and we're one short shy of having all the Cinecolor Rainbow Parades here. There's a better print of 'Rag Dog' in Florida--- but it's looking like I'm going to have to go there to get it! We used that same print for the DVD set 10 years back now-- just hope it's still in nice shape. Managed to borrow a nearly mint 'Parrotville Old Folks' -- looks like the print was never run. Amazing condition for a 1940 16mm Cinecolor prin- easily cleanest I've ever seen.

Thanks everyone for supporting these things. I know I say that a lot, but the scans and production are always financed by the orders and special sets coming in. Thunderbean has never been about profit (pretty much everything coming in goes to doing more sets) but as it grows a little its now becoming possible to have more people working a little more to get these things moving faster.

Grotesqueries was nearly finished last night. Had a 6 hour edit and revision session with the co-producer and working on a master right now again. If we can get this out the door this week I'm very happy. Trying to get the Puppetoon things we've been helping with off the plate too, and very close. They look beautiful even though the material widely varied in quality and condition.

I'd love to get the Rainbow Parade scans all done next week if there's a way to do it. It's a balance for sure. If you ordered a special set that's done the folks at the office are working on getting these all dubbed. More updates soon...

Sounds like a real busy time, looking forward to getting my hands on some of these discs.

Do special sets ordered direct get shipped in a customs friendly way? Ordered a couple previously through amazon and got hit, just wondering if I should be expecting the same

Salivating over the prospect of the Rainbow Parades and Flip The Frog Sets getting released this year. What was the issue with the Flip soundtracks?

Rainbow Parades, volume 1 is getting really close to the finish line now. The last few films are getting scanned and cleaned up, and we're working on a fun menu design that includes new animation.

Side note: If you ordered the original set through Thunderbean's pre-order, you will get both volume 1 shipped now, and volume 2 when finished. You'll also get a sneak preview disc of Volume 2 films with the finished volume 1.

We're doing a little fundraiser 'booster' to help get Rainbow Parade, volume 1 finished a little faster and could use your help! For contributing, you get:

1) An original drawing from the animated title sequence
2) A short 16mm b/w strip of film from one of the Rainbow Parades
3) A disc of the Cinecolor Rainbow Parades in original, raw scans and pieces, including all leaders.

This fundraiser set is $14, with shipping included. Paypal, as usual, is steves@thunderbeananimation.com. Be sure to list 'Rainbow Fundraiser' in the paypal note. Thanks to all of you who make these things happen. We can use all the help we can to get the set to replication!

Steve,

I just sent $14.00 to you via paypal in payment for the Rainbow fundraiser offering. This was one set, however, that I did not preorder. Any chance that the Rainbow Vol. 1/2 set can be put up for preorder again for us latecomers? I'd be happy to send more money your way.

Thanks,
Russ

I was an Indiegogo backer of Bobby B, and I'm absolutely delighted with this set. Tommy & Steve knocked it out of the park. Buy it NOW.

Received Kipling’s Women and Screen Songs in the Mail today

Still waiting on Halloween Rarities, the DVD portion of Special disc #2, Tons of Toons, Popeye and Betty Boop, I’m no fool and Popeye in Technicolor. It’s been nearly three years since I ordered Halloween Rarities at this point...

Sent for the Rainbow Parade fundraiser. Working my way through the Screen Songs disc. The transfers are great. Never saw these cartoons look or sound this good. But I wonder what planet the people who made these cartoons lived on. They are amazingly unfunny and out of touch with the reality of the times they were made. It's a good thing Famous had Popeye to make cartoons with.

I have a question about the Stone Age cartoon on Cartoon Paradise... Is there a story behind that cartoon? It looks as if it was made without a director. Was it partially done as a story and then just pushed through production?

I wouldn't count on it... I'm in Australia and my package was returned for postage.
