Aw, man, I don't know how I missed it. Definitely would've ordered it.

Steve does reopen orders of the old special discs from time to time, so it's possible you may be able to order it at some point in the future.

If you have access to the site named after an organ, there are many versions of the film there, including a raw scan of a 16mm print and a "restored" 35mm print. It seems that whoever made the restored version used the best quality elements available on the site (I believe the image was taken from Steve's special disc but cleaned up and the missing frames in the credits were reconstructed, plus the audio from the BBC broadcast, and several foreign language tracks from the laserdisc and other releases).

There's also a very long thread about this film at OT, including several posts from Steve himself.

Oh, the internet.

It seems that once something is out there, you never know what happens with it, who claims what, etc. I've heard from more than one person that someone who gets the 'special' discs that we do of cartoons almost immediately puts them on the net to download, official sets too. I figured out who it is that does it; that is weighing heavily on the decision to discontinue the special ones. Trying to catch up here and have my small staff help figure out everything is a whole other challenge. So far the summer is non-stop with this stuff.

Done. Anybody else who wants it, please send me a PM instead of posting here (so we don't clog up the thread any further).

Steve, I just sent you a PM about some ideas that can help prevent this sort of situation from happening again with whoever is doing it.

Decades and billions of dollars later, no one can stop piracy. No matter what. If you release something that can be played, it can be pirated. No way around that. It's just the nature of the beast.

Forget about that guy; you obviously have plenty of us who are ready and willing to throw our money at you because we love what you do, we love your products and we want to support you by buying both your lovely official sets and your special sets to help fund your official sets. Keep on keepin’ on and let us continue to lovingly throw our money at you.

Just sent payment for the Lou Bunin set, sorry it took me so long!

If it was me, this post alone would scare me out of doing it again!

Surely when that buyer orders a set, just keep refusing the order and refunding them though I mean sure, they might find another way eventually, but at least it would be an inconvenience!

That's true for even the best defenses can have holes in them. At the very least, there should be a way so that the chances of any discs getting uploaded onto the internet to be very small.

A small chance is all that is needed.

Default The special disc we almost didn't do

The first two days of the week went really well (although still working on some master issues). Will be checking on packing in the morning- although I hear we're almost there, finally.

There's been a bunch of emails these last few days-- so I'm going to do this one.

Offered is a 'special' disc (BDR) called:

'Late 80s live action/animated feature'. It's scanned from a very good condition original 35mm theatrical print, intact and uncut, with its original 2 track stereo theatrical Dolby mix. It's an excellent representation of the film as first released.

The set is $17.95 plus $4 postage. $8 for Canada or outside US. No postage if you've ordered any other sets. Postage is also free to anyone outside US (we've been so behind on those orders that we owe all of you).

Thanks to everyone for supporting these sets and keeping the faith!

While that's great, it does have good releases out there.

Really wish things like the 1940 feature or Axis WWII cartoons that DON'T have good versions out there would be given some love
