Default American Horror Stories (spin-off of AHS series)

Source

Quote:

An American Horror Story spinoff series has been announced by the show's co-creator, Ryan Murphy. Murphy took to Instagram to share a photo of a cast Zoom call which consisted of numerous familiar fan-favorites from previous American Horror Story seasons.

He shared that the group "reminisced about the good times" and discussed a new project he has planned. A spin-off for the horror anthology series is currently in the works, called "American Horror Stories", which will be "one hour contained episodes."

At the moment, no other details are known about the spinoff series aside from what Murphy shared on social media.

On one hand, having it contained to 40ish minutes would be good, but on the other, they could just not try to drag out AHS into as many episodes as they have in the past..

After HOTEL it felt like they’ve been giving each season the number of episodes they needed to tell the story. Especially MURDER HOUSE and ASYLUM felt like they had a lot of filler. APOCALYPSE and 1984 felt about right.

This would be more interesting if they were making each one as a single AHS universe self contained movie. They could do what AHS has been doing for years giving great actors scenery to chew but instead giving genre directors creative freedom to make a movie. Then release a season of five or six movies a year.

Casting Announcement

Quote:
Ryan Murphy has more scares in the works as he assembles the cast for American Horror Stories, which will feature Glee alum Kevin McHale, Pose actor Dyllón Burnside, Riverdale‘s Charles Melton and The Prom‘s Nico Greetham.

Murphy confirmed the four actors’ casting in an Instagram post shared on Wednesday. According to sources, Danny Trejo has also been cast in the spinoff project.

I'm going to watch this just as I have watched every other season. But I'm just not excited for it at all..

Dunno I think them not releasing 1984 on blu ray really left a sour taste in my mouth that I haven't gotten rid of. I've purchased every season even if they weren't that great. And then came 1984 it was my favorite season since Asylum and to not have it added to my collection just bugs me.

It's going to be an anthology where each episode is a self-contained story, you could just watch the episodes you find interesting.

I'm intrigued by this, mostly because AHS is usually a show that has some really strong concepts marred by bloated seasons that force them to throw a bunch of stuff at the wall, little of which actually lands.

Watched this last night when it went up. First episode is a two-parter, so basically a 90 minute movie about a new family who moves into the Murder House.

How is it so far for those that have seen the first two episodes?

I dropped out halfway through season 3 of the original series. It was very hit or miss for me. I liked season 2 a lot, season 1 was kind of ‘meh’ for me, and season 3 couldn’t decide if it was a comedy or a horror show. Obviously you can do both at the same time but to me it felt like the show didn’t know how to handle being both at the same time.

Every since then I’ve heard pretty mixed things on the rest of the seasons so I’ve never bothered to pick it up again. There’s too much good TV out there and the main series just doesn’t seem to cut it anymore.

This was basically a 90-minute re-do of season 1, so if your reaction to that was "meh", it will likely be the same here for the premiere episodes.

Thanks. I’ll wait to see how it fares the rest of the season.

It’s still novel for me that we can get a 90min TV movie with no heterosexual characters.

Didn't get the point of current episodes a re-hash of first season into 80 minutes and with new characters while hinting the originals still in the house (obviously).

If episode three is like this than I will have to quit and wait for the new AHS season.

I mean we are in Woke era so you know Hollywood than again didn't care since the theme was always like that when it came to murder house and they are not the first gay couples to die in that house if remember correctly from AHS first season.
