A Thunderbean Update:

Things are moving forward here. I'm hoping to have dubbing in full stride this week to get a bunch of things out the door. Animation for the 'Rainbow Parade' titles is almost done (finished fixing a scene and scanned it today- now onto compile and coloring). That's the last thing to do for the master. Right now the set doesn't have commentaries. I've been debating doing that-- or instead having a pretty good booklet with reviews for each film by different authors. Chris Buchman is preparing an excellent essay on the music in the films. Between Devon Baxter and myself, we found a lot of the use of the Rainbow Parade soundtracks in TV prints of silent cartoons. I found an additional one here this week. I really like the set.

A whole bunch of model sheets were on ebay a handful of weeks ago from the series- many that I've never seen before. We managed to get nearly all and scanned them, for both this set and the 2ndf half of the series.

I'm still missing the opening music from 'Bird Scouts'. The Cincecolor prints almost never have the full music, but the 40s and 50s b/w Official films prints do (if they're in good enough shape and are not missing the beginning music). Someone had a Bird Scouts for sale and I won it-- but the seller lost the print among all the other things he had for sale! I'm hoping at the last moment a print will show up on Ebay-- or someone will have it in the collecting world and will lend it. Anyone?

There *may* be a Christmas set in the works right now. The icing on that cake would be a Christmas Fleischer cartoon in 35mm IB if all the planets can align. A fellow collector (and Thunderbean customer) informed me of a print that is available to scan-- but with Covid I'm not sure if the lockdown woudl prevent that.

This title will *for sure* be done in November. If we can make it happen we'll have 'Stop Motion Marvels 2' out in November or early December as well. The big this is figuring out how to fund the replication as well as covering all the dubbing and postage for all the other stuff.

Flip the Frog, sadly, still is stuck waiting for the last materials to be available- but until archives are opened-- or we can manage to get them in the few opportunities for things to move back and forth even without a complete opening. It will be a 2 disc set with the whole series on one set.

Hey Steve, how is your pet doing? It’s sucks when the little ones are sick. Hoping things on are on the mend.

We lost her. I'm pretty devastated honestly, but trying to keep busy and keep going with everything.

So sorry to hear this. My heart goes out to you and Mary. It's so hard to lose a family member like that.

I am so sorry Steve. We lost our boy, Otis to cancer last December and we’re still devastated. There are times I can still hear him coming around the corner.

As someone who had to have their cat AND dog put down due to various circumstances, I offer my DEEPEST condolences and sympathy. When Dixie died I... I swore to never love another animal as much as I loved her and that black cat ever again... and while my new pets Peanut and Tiger (going on 12 years) are very good I still remember those who had their lives cut short.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, Steve. Given the passion, dedication, and kindness you display on this board on a nigh daily basis, I have no doubt you were a loving pet owner who gave her the best life possible. Best of luck in the difficult days ahead -- when things get tough, remember the good times, which almost certainly outnumbered the bad ones.

Very sorry to hear of your loss. The old truisms are true: Animals are people too and a loved pet is a true friend. Good wishes to you at this sad time.
