I had no idea that people were going crazy over these slip covers. I used to want to throw them away. I think I may have done it on a few years ago, I’m not sure. I don’t care much fir them. I just discovered people selling them on eBay. I don’t care what they look like on display. The same thing happened to me years ago with the digital content codes. I didn’t know what they were and never used them until I saw people selling them on eBay. I think I sold all I had to one guy for close to $100. I had some for so long that they had expired. I’m a very simple guy.

Slipcovers are nice, but I rarely end up getting them since my priority is cost and I wait until good sales. By the time that happens, usually the initial print run that would include slips is already over. I've never used digital codes at all, to me they are rather redundant. If I wanted it digitally I wouldn't be getting a physical disc. My video library is filled with tons of unused / expired codes. Never understood the expiration either. If the disc is still in print and can be purchased, the digital should be active as well. |

About 10 days ago on their Facebook page someone asked Scream if there were any new announcements forthcoming, and they responded thus:

I'm a slipcover guy. I like the look of them and love the high quality artwork they provide, especially when the artwork is excellent). Shout! allows you to reverse the artwork on the case and still display the new artwork. And I recently picked up Dial Code Santa Claus from VS and Birds of Prey 4K and the slips on them are excellent. |

I don't understand the obsession with steelbooks. Mainly because, to me, the art on them are typically mediocre or garbage. The Robocop one released not long ago is an example of a steelbook done right. Other than that, the only steelbooks I have are ones I got cheaper than the regular version. |

I like steelbooks, but for the most part, I will only get a steel version if I really like the movie or show, and I view the cover art as actually good. |

I'm not fanatical about steelbooks but if it came down to a choice between a generic studio release in standard packaging and a steelbook, I'd choose the latter. Yes, the art on many SBs is mediocre, especially some of those Best Buy exclusives, but there are some creative boutique labels out there coming up with beautiful steels. Euro label Titans of Cult's SB of V For Vendetta is quite nice, for instance. I've also been enjoying Shout's steelbook reissues.

I like Scream Factory as much as the next guy but it is a little too ridiculous how long it's taking 5 titles from the shocktober sale that have been out for months to ship. I've already had 2 separate Arrow shocktober packages arrive from overseas and my Criterion B&N order is already shipped and about to arrive. I dunno I just wanted to complain for a sec

One thing that I'm getting better on, and I've mentioned it before in this thread, is picking up Scream Factory titles without the slip. In the past I have put back dozens of SF blu's because they were slipless. And if I couldn't find it on ebay or other shop, I would just wait. Today, with a lot of older SF titles going OOP I don't think I'll sit as many back down in the wild.
I can't explain it, but the collector in me just needs the slip, if it originally came with one. It just presses that collector button that makes me feel like I have the complete piece. It looks fantastic on the shelf when not being watched, I really like that. |
