Well, whoever told you that is very mistaken. A composer is no different than an actor....everybody's on stage, supporting each other. Brokeback was 16 years ago. Are there no memorable movie themes in 16 years? Such an odd question for this community.

To be brutally honest I don't remember the Brokeback Mountain theme at all. There are plenty of others since then that I do remember, though.

Memorable will just depend on what movies you watch and how often. For example I listened to the Social Network theme posted above and I like it. It instantly sounded familiar, but I had completely forgotten it, because I haven’t watched The Social Network in 10 years. It’s just not my favorite Fincher film.

How To Train Your Dragon, Carol, La La Land, and Brokeback Mountain I watch yearly. Those are all undoubtedly good scores since they were nominated for Oscars and they’re memorable to me because I watch those films regularly.

Truth. Thumbs up. I love the Tiomkin score for The Alamo, but I doubt many people here would know it. And also don't know Spielberg and John Williams totally riffed on Bambi with Jaws, and then interpolated Pinocchio in Close Encounters...it's like what Miyazaki told Roger Ebert....art is a baton race....you do what you do, future artists pick it up and carry it.

Carter Burwell is a god to film music. Does not get the respect he deserves.

I forgot how the theme went to Brokeback Mountain went.
Real memorable ones for me are Requiem for a Dream, Titanic, Kill Bill

Usually not my style, but I'll be damned if I don't play the air drums every time I think of Mad Max nowadays, and considering the age and already impressive lineage of the franchise, that's quite impressive.

Also it stops me singing Tina Turner.
