2)obviously for the last year or so things might be a bit different and this is just a model, things can change a bit for different films but

roughly 1/3 of all income to the studio for films come from theatrical presentations. That means it has a vey large impact on potential budget and fiscal capabilities of a studio and so its demise would have a large impact on content no matter the home media chosen.

don't know.

no, why would it make a difference? If someone does not care about quality why would no theatrical presentation make them change their mind?

Not tentpole but The Father (Anthony Hopkins) looks superb.

Simply nothing will change. I don't see why Amazon owning MGM (which let's face it is only considered a major studio because of its historic significance) will make any difference.

Do you think amazon will say "no" to theatrical presentations as long as theaters play a large part of income generation?

If Amazon is willing to release a bunch of amazon prime originals on BD and you can buy them anywhere why would you think it will be different for MGM?

In the winter when they don't have the time to go there it gets trimmed to just basic and in the summer when they are basically living there they go with the same package they have at home.

Box Office: ‘In the Heights’ Battling ‘Quiet Place 2’ for No. 1 - Hollywood Reporter 6/12

Jon M. Chu directed the big-screen adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical with an ensemble cast led by Anthony Ramos and Corey Hawkins.

Quote:
Warner Bros.’ In the Heights won the Friday box office race, earning $5 million — including Thursday previews — for a projected weekend start in the $12 million to $13 million range. That’s lower than expected and puts the feel-good movie race in a close race with holdover A Quiet Place Part II.

Jon M. Chu, the force behind box office hit Crazy Rich Asians, directs the big screen adaptation of the musical that put Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda on the map.

Like all 2021 Warner Bros. titles, In the Heights is debuting simultaneously on HBO Max because of the challenges posed by the pandemic. It is impossible to know exactly how much business that is taking away in terms of box office grosses, but the musical may be more impacted than other genres since musicals often play to older adults. That demo has yet to make a full-fledged return to the multiplex. At the same, they also can have especially long legs.

Anthony Ramos and Corey Hawkins led the ensemble cast in this tale of a corner in Upper Manhattan’s Washington Heights where different members of the close-knit Latinx community pursue their dreams. Leslie Grace, Melisa Barrera, Olga Merediz, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Gregory Diaz IV and Jimmy Smits also star in the critically acclaimed film, which received an A CinemaScore from audiences.

The film is over-indexing on both Coasts, and particularly on the East Coast, where five of the top 10 theaters on Friday came from New York City alone.

The weekend’s other new offering is Sony’s family pic Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway, which grossed an estimated $4 million on Friday for an estimated debut of $10.2 million. The film received an A CinemaScore.

The summer season is fully underway at the box office as the pandemic recovery continues, although grosses are still more tepid than in past years because of ongoing challenges facing the marketplace, including major theater closures in Canada, and hesitancy among some consumers. (There’s also cannibalization from streamers, such as HBO Max.)

Among holdovers, Paramount’s A Quiet Place Part II is making headlines in its third weekend as it becomes the first film since the COVID-19 crisis struck to cross the $100 million mark domestically.

The horror-thriller grossed $3.7 million on its third Friday for an estimated weekend haul of $12.5 million and a domestic total through Sunday of $109 million.

Warner Bros.’ The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It is looking at third place finish its sophomore outing with $11.5 million.

Disney’s Cruella — which is also available on Disney+ Premier Access for $30 — is likely to round out the top five with weekend earnings of $7 million or so in its third weekend.

Top Gun: Maverick was apparently filmed in IMAX, so that's the version to go with, IMO.

I can't wait for both films, though.

From that list, Matrix 4, Halloween Kills (big style) Spidey and The Kings Man.

Indeed it was (1.9 re. IMDb), at some point I may look into how it was framed. I am curious to see it because:

If you like horror, you may want to add Candyman.

I wasn't sure if that qualified as a tent pole but I'm excited for that as well. Also Antlers.

I saw that when I bought my Panasonic from him. I was starting to get that itch again, so started catching up with any recent Trinnov or Storm Audio news, but it looks like I nuked the crossover in one my speakers. I have an appointment to take the speaker and the amp feeding them as I believe there may be something weird with the bias or a capacitor in it. The guy I am taking them to in town is truly a Jedi Master with this stuff, so hopefully he gets me back up and running. Since AAD is no longer in business however, I can’t get any parts for them. And if the speaker is toast, that means I will have to replace the mains along with the new Dynaudio center I have been waiting for for about 4 months. That will be an expensive proposition, so I am holding off on scratching the new processor itch again.

For now, my system is down, but I am not complaining, as there are far greater tragedies and obstacles people face in the world today.

Went to see ‘Nobody’ starring Bob Odenkirk, so glad I did. Won’t spoil it but it’s thoroughly entertaining and extremely brutal with a great soundtrack. Buying the Blu-ray or 4K disc day one.

I mentioned your subs to Stacey Spears and his response:

Which AVR/SSP? Are they using a Trinnov? Curious how they are configured.
Stacey intends to include some audio test on the new Spears & Munsil UHD HDR Benchmark (Test Disc for 4K) for Atmos and DTS:X and has asked what people are using and how they have their setup configured. Thought you may like to reply when you have the time.

Fair enough. Personally, I couldn’t wait to get back in there. So much so, I was emotional for a good 30 mins.
