I've read about Men Behind the Sun and I can honestly say that I have zero interest in ever seeing it. None.

DVDCompare says Antichrist is slowed down in the US BD, is this true as the other BD are in PAL?

Yeah. All of von Trier's movies sound slowed down on NTSC. There was a whole thing about it pointed out in the "House That Jack Built" thread with the director's cut.

Antichrist is 25fps. The UK Blu reports and flags 1080i but it's actually 1080p.
If you're looking to get it it's pretty cheap. I don't have any playback problems on my 4k TV. I can't remember if it's region B though.

Melancholia is also 25fps but only the Swiss release is properly presented that way. Hard to find these days.

Where? I tried searching "slowed" "speed" and "anti" on both the US and UK BD threads and got nowhere.

Also, is the slower speed of the US BD or is the speed of the 25fps preferable?

I watched Nymphomaniac, Volume 1 on Blu-ray a few hours later and barely noticed any banding and no posterization, certainly nowhere close to the kind in Antichrist. Either von Trier learned to control it better in later movies or it's Criterion's fault or both.

Well, House that Jack Built is loaded with it, and Melancholia has some.

So tonight, Beyond Fest premiered the new 4K restoration of "Antichrist" at midnight (with some sequences looking a lot richer color/saturation wise compared to the print/prior Criterion release). I'm trying to remember if Criterion still distributes IFC films or if they're partnered exclusively with Shout! now because I'd love to get a restored UHD/Blu if one or the other does it.

How could this have gotten a 4K restoration when it was shot on a Red Digital Camera? I also just checked the Beyond Fest website and I don't see anything suggesting that a restoration was the used for the screening.

Maybe "restoration" was the wrong word to use on all ends, but their Instagram post on their free IFC midnight screenings said

Quote:
Reflecting their endlessly provocative slate, six FREE screenings, courtesy of IFC Midnight, will begin at the stroke of midnight: the brand-new restoration of Lars von Trier’s ANTICHRIST (9.30),
, which makes sense as there was that YouTube upload in 2017 detailing the people at Zentropa doing extensive restorations of his films/projects.

It also opened with the new IFC logo rather than the vintage one.
