what I meant, is that if a live-action release, like a Technicolor musical, had been as badly botched as Tex Avery 2 had been, there wouldn't be all these snarky quips at my expense.
This is untrue. Within the last year or two, a Kino or WAC (I believe it was Kino?) release of a "classic" live action film from the 30's or 40's had some errors and one or two users were repeatedly posting the most dramatic, over-the-top hyperbole about what a crime against cinema it was. They were very correctly derided for it.

Errors and botched releases/transfers are always a serious drag, but constantly moaning about the same thing over and over when we know it won't be fixed, does wear thin. Tex Avery Vol. 2 was a serious disappointment, but it doesn't "spoil everything" as you say, because the other releases you listed are still just as good as they always were.

Rest easy
Again, there have been hundred of unblemished live-action releases. So the batting average is much higher than it is for their animation releases.

It's clear that WAC will do a bad job with animation if they think they can get away with it. That precedent has been set. Until we get dozens of near-perfect animation releases in a row, anyone critical of the WAC tackling animation is entitled to their negativity. Especially since WAC hasn't even acknowledged the issues with that disc, let alone given assurance that it won't happen again.

You don't even remember what the disc was or who put it out. If it was actually WAC, and was an entire disc with terrible color grading and detail-destroying DNR, that would be the equivalent.

Again, it's so easy for you all to dismiss criticism, since its a disc none of your really care about. With WAC's live-action releases, you can all rest easy that any issues will be minor at worst (like the removal of a moth), and not an entire discs worth of bad transfers. This "one bad disc" talk wouldn't be so trivial if the bad disc had been, say, Brothers Grimm, would it?

Every label has issues. Some worse and more frequent than others. WAC seems to have a pretty decent track record compared to most boutiques though. Of course, it's still disappointing when an issue affects the title you've been waiting for.

And it's easier to trivialize the disappointment when none of your favorite titles have issues.

No one would be making excuses if Mystery of the Wax Museum or Dr. X, or one of the Thin Man movies got this treatment. Without an acknowledgement or an apology, no less. Live-action movie collectors are treated to releases that are at least 97% perfect.

I’d hate to see what happened if you bought a pizza during the pandemic and they didn’t have your favorite topping. Definitely worth posting about for years and years since pizza will never be the same again.

Thanks for the additional snark. I hope the next release you're looking forward to has DNR or terrible color grading, too.

Your hate has no place here. Neither do your assumptions. I bought all the Tex Avery sets and other animated WAC titles. Can live action people even do that??

So did I. I'm as entitled to my cynicism as you are to your snark.

It's just a bunch of black and white films from the 1940's.

It's just old musicals no one has ever heard of.

It's just old horror.

Whew! What a heated thread today. Maybe now we can get back to discussing what we would like to see WAC release in the future.

As for animation, I'd love a Roadrunner set. And for live-action, how about The Mask of Fu Manchu (1932) and The Walking Dead (1936).

On more than one occasion I've wanted to suggest a Roadrunner set but felt like I was treading on eggshells (thinking as well that the Roadrunner cartoons had already had some physical media releases (sure I've seen a discussion thread in the North America sub-forum). When I was younger, I used to love watching the Looney Tunes shorts, and especially loved the Roadrunner cartoons. I was reminded of how funny they were, when watching an episode of Medical Center (one of the guest star characters was watching a Roadrunner cartoon).

Still to get the second Tex Avery Blu-ray volume, but I also want to get The Jetsons: The Complete Original Series Blu-ray set.

Say, I haven't been able to find any info online. Since it's an older MGM title, would WAC have the rights to restore and release The Viking (1928)?

That seems like a swell package to have both the silent and the sound version from 1930.

Of course the topic could be moot. I need to really bone up on these distribution deals. I haven't a clue how most of these shake out.

If that's the case, what's the point about saying anything about any Blu-Ray with serious problems?

No one should about any blu-ray with any kind of issue, so that this forum can be all positivity and praise.
