Actually I'd give the edge in generation 6 to the original Xbox.

As for the Wii, it's about twice as powerful as the original Gamecube computationally. So it's current gen (can we please stop saying "next gen" now that all three consoles have been out for more than two and a half years... please?).

Of course, the Wii doesn't measure up hardware-wise to the Xbox 360 or PS3, but that doesn't mean it's not head and shoulders over the hardware from the 6th generation of game consoles.

As for Wii to Xbox 360 converts, I can tell you that, at least in the Rock Band playing circles I wander in, most of the Wii owners who play Rock Band and want to upgrade to a better console gravitate to the Xbox 360 because of the mildly better feature set on that version of the game. Granted, this is a demographic where there is a measurable difference in capability between the versions on different consoles, but it still disproves the assertion that Wii owners will automagically gravitate toward the PS3 when they decide that they want online gaming / HD graphics.

Oh, and the Wii does have its fair share of decent games, even not produced by Nintendo. There's not "many", but they do exist.
