I agree, and while some have been overly critical of the presentation of this boxset, I do have to agree with those who criticized the case art.

Iím not sure where these covers were sourced from, but apart from Police Story 3, which I actually knew used the original poster art, the other two looked like they were pulled from low resolution sources. It makes them feel cheap, like the case art was printed by some bootleg outfit and for a company as reputable as Eureka, thatís not a good look.

I had also heard they messed up and didnít include individual case art from Kung Fu Bob and if thatís accurate, itís sad because those would have been much preferred IMO.

Also for some reason my case art for PS2 was too big and ended up slightly warped. Little things like this make me a little sad, but havenít completely ruined the boxset for me because as you said, the discs are what matters.

Yeah, weren't these suppose to include reversible art by Kung Fu Bob and they aren't reversible?

That was the rumor, oddly there is inner art which of course canít be seen since theyíre in black casesÖ

I've only seen 3 unboxings and they all don't check if there's reversible artwork, can anyone confirm if there is?

It was confirmed by Eureka that there is no reverse artwork:

Due to unforeseen circumstances completely out of our control we had to make the difficult decision at the eleventh hour to either suspend the release indefinitely or to proceed with this release without Kung Fu Bobís artwork, as we did not have alternate artwork ready that could have replaced his.

We care very much about your opinions, and are very sorry for any disappointment. We are confident that you will nonetheless still enjoy the finished product. As our first 4K UHD release we worked very hard to ensure the finished discs were the best they could be, and we are very satisfied with the final result.

With regard to the size of the J-card, this was a manufacturing error that we were unaware of until all copies were packed, sealed and ready to be shipped.

We appreciate that this response does not address all the points that you have raised, but at this moment in time we are not in a position to comment any further about the other matters, since as of today we have yet to receive the commissioned artwork from the artist.

Yes, I was trying to do that in my post as I already have this set in hand. The covers each have inner art, but itís not a reversible cover. The inner art for each is just a still from the film.

If that's the case then, they should've went with those clear cases. A black case makes no sense.

A bit of a nitpick but a police badge or something should have been put on the back. It looks weird blank.

Maybe there was going to be some artwork, but they rushed this release out. I wouldn't have minded another month delay for these.

Black cases are the 4K standard, and clear ones have the Blu-ray logo stamped into it, so I think it would have required them to purchase custom cases and Eureka has always used standard cases as far as I know. But yeah, it seems like a glaring error on their part to do this, at least reversible cover art would have made sense.

Also, for those questioning the blank back of the slip box, please keep in mind this just standard Eureka, their previous Police Story and Project A sets were blank on the back, as were their masters of cinema releases with slip boxes. Back art would have been nice, but I wouldnít have expected them to change this up suddenly.

Btw question for those who might have information on this. Any reason why the alternate cuts were not offered in 4K for PS2 and PS3? It looks like both were completed using the 4K remasters, so itís odd they couldnít have just used the same HDR grading and made them an option from the main menu instead only being HD in the extras section.

It bothers me every time Arrow does this with their releases...I want the info on the card but I don't like it hanging on by a little piece of tape or glue, so I take it off and place it inside the slipbox only to find out there is no art on the back. What's the point? Couldn't the listing of special features at least be printed on the back instead of putting it on a flimsy J-card?

I've just finished watching part 1 and I thought it looked great! My TV temp settings is on the cooler side but I couldn't notice any consistent tint.
It looks the best it ever has. Colours pop nicely and nice deep blacks. Some shots look a bit soft and out of focus but I know this is how the film was made (no monitors to check) so there's nothing that can be done about that. Great job.
Now for part 2. I'll check out the pq but I'll be watching the HK theatrical cut.

You already said this part, so why did you wait 25 minutes and then decide to make 6 more posts to criticize the cases they're using, ask questions about the reversible art that was already directly addressed by Eureka, and to baselessly claim that the set was rushed?

You seem to have your mind made up, so why not just bow out of the thread instead of whining about your disappointment across multiple posts?

That was before I read reviews of people praising the transfers here. If the transfers are as mediocre as the review on this site, then I would wait for the US releases, but since majority of people seem to like the transfers. I am probably going to take some interest in this set. I mean the set is rushed, Eureka admitted that they could've delayed the set to get Bob Kung Fu reversible covers, but chose to release it. Some have even pointed out how low res the covers look. They definitely could've spent more time on making this set look premium. Part of the packaging is what we're paying for too.

Well, the packaging for the set may not be perfect, but at least its in actual cases and a rigid slip box with a fantastic and thick booklet. As opposed to Criterion's Police Story 1&2 release where they had possibly their cheapest packaging ever.

Also waiting for a 4k US release is a bad move as there is no guarantee Criterion will even do one. They've been re-releasing a handful of their previous films in 4K, but I don't know how well their Police Story blu-ray set even sold, and they might think it's not worth the money or time to do a 4K release.

I will note though, if anyone doesn't care about the booklet, there will likely be a cheaper version later without the booklet that could have the Kung Fu Bob artwork on the individual cases, but that's just a guess on my part.

I thought the packaging for Criterion was pretty nice, it's a lot of cardboard, but it had a great poster. Oh the Police Story movies sold really well for Criterion, believe that. There's definitely a possibility they'll get 4K treatment eventually depending if they still have the rights to them. We never saw a In The Mood For Love 4K coming from them, Criterion can be full of surprises. The only thing I didn't like about the Criterion packaging was how it's just a slip that slides out the digipak. Would've preferred their standard slip boxes. Admittedly I like Kung Fu Bob's main artwork more than Criterion's, but unfortunately his slipcover artwork got scrapped.
