It's me......again.....still looking into the Goovis Pro and more and more they are looking like something i will use. (Still checking with Goovis to see if they can adjust for my astigmatism.)
Question: When the Goovis Pro is hooked up to a BLU RAY machine, and an audio headset is used for sound, must the headset have a volume control, if we wish to control the volume?
Thank you.
Happy to help I remember I also searched for reviews and answers of this device when I planned to buy it, but not much that gave me the details I needed.
You can connect it directly to a blu ray player. But the blu ray player should have volume control, as the Goovis doesn't have any volume control as far as I remember. Haven't really used it in some years and packed down somewhere in apartment. Also it has some built-in power save mode that's kind of annoying. Every time you take the headset off your head, it automatically turns off even if still connected to a player. So when you put on the headset again, sometimes it does not detect that a player is connected and remains black screen even though the power turns back on for the headset. So either you have to take the headset off and put on your face again, and hope that it detects the second time, or third, fourth times, etc. Or you have to unplug the headset from the player and reattach it, powering it up again, then you get the picture back. It's annoying if you just plan to take the headset off for few seconds to wipe the lense or similar, and not sure if you should do it..if it's a hassle to get the picture back, if you get what I mean :P
The reason I rarely use it nowadays is because of the screen size. The screen isn't really that big, even though the resolution and colour is sharp and good. If you start watching virtual theater in headsets like Oculus Quest 2, you will soon realize how small the Goovis screen is. But still it's a fine device for getting ok mid-size screen with true HD resolution. And I get to take off my glasses when using it also. And another thing, if you have astigmatism and don't get the extra lenses, you will also get sharp picture with the built-in adjustment, although you will probably feel unbalanced with the sight and get headache after a while...at least it happened to me. The good thing about it obviously is the ability to watch 3D frame pack blu-rays right off the disk via blu ray player. With Oculus Quest 2 I would have to do extra work with my 3D blu rays. Hopefully there will be a device in the future that takes the best of both headsets and merge it into one with wider FOV, that's the future of real home theatre in my opinion
Can I ask if you’ve been using your goovis pro lataly to watch 3D blu-ray? Have you watched anything that blew you away? Like Avatar, how is watching it trough the goovis?

Blu-ray 3D capabilities seems to be an afterthought for these headsets, causing many playback problems.
I spent my day off trying to make the Royole Moon work, I refused to do it for the Goovis, primarily because it cost more.
one thing i didn't talk about was the response time. i was also surprised to see how little it affected the 3D effect, maybe my js8500 has such a good response time that i was already used to it, but again, only felt marginally better than my TV set. which did retail for like 3-4 grand on release date (i paid $800 for it brand new in 2017). Was definitely more smoother and natural but not by a very large degree. If you come from a cheap 3D LED TV, then it just might be a revelationary experience owning this, for ya
I would still prefer the mobile theater headset route for 3D viewing IF only some company did it right and fixed the problems I have already mentioned or lowered the price.
Goovis actually had the nerve to report me to amazon about how I shipped the item back not in its original packaging. Well no shit! I had to test it out to find out it wasn't as described in their listing. Which I also put in the reason description for return.
But I DID send everything back that was originally included in mint condition, minus the small plastic bags for accessories (like the free gift HDMI/USB splitter!) that I had to cut open. Even the plastic film around headvisor was still on. They are shady af and I'd advise you stay clear of GOOVIS. And if amazon wants to ban my account for returning items from dishonest sellers, then i guess im not shopping at amazon anymore.
when i realized i didnt need the D3 controller for blu-ray 3D playback, the initial plan was to actually send it back, and just re-purchase the headset only for 1k, but then the image quality (elevated blacks) really bummed me out and lack of setting controls without the D3, so I didnt bother.
I really don't mind if these mobile theater headset companies made the product bulky so there would be no shortcomings in the quality control department. I definitely believe the glass lenses area NEEDS to be larger. It was surpassingly similar to the coverage area of the Royole Moon.
What about you? Still enjoying this? Your review was amazingly detailed? The same questions for you? Saw anything that was mind blowing on this?
