I think those caps look pretty good. We knew what to expect based on the streaming version. I think this is a huge uptick of detail compared to the Imprint. Should look great in Dolby Vision.

Eh, it can't be any worse than the older HD master. I will probably get the UK release though, because it's about $10 cheaper before shipping and I need a couple other titles, anyway. I wish they had kept the original artwork because the new one looks bad online. I wonder if looks better in person.

Yes, in the past and still there are movies/tv-shows with a Dutch dub.
Mostly kids movies.
And the knowledge / level of English is overrated by many.

But most importantly, out of 18 million, there is a group of 1 million with a disability. Not nice to discrinate them

I have not had a chance to watch it all yet, but going through snippets and these random caps, the compression is really mediocre, which is a shame because the restoration looks outstanding. There has also been some mild-to-moderate grain management, which would have been 'passable' were it not for the fact the mediocre compression reduces it even further. So far it does not look like a disaster, but it is far from a reference 4K disc. And it makes me wonder if the accompanying 1080p blu-ray holds up better since the compression is very likely better on it and more consistent. You can also see in the bitrate graph it sort of looks like they capped the bitrate too since it does not go beyond 90 Mbps, save for like one or two times in the entire film. And given the source (film, i.e. grain), it would have benefited it to have higher peaks. It does not turn into a block-fest or lego-vision, but it's still regrettable to see Paramount cannot get their stuff together and make these stellar restorations justice in the final product, fumbling at the last second with the codec.

If you zoom in in most of the caps here, in most backgrounds (like on the white portions of the third cap with the painting) you can see how the grain breaks apart, and it lacks that definition and consistency from other 4K film sources with more competent codecs. It looks far from natural or good.

Anyway, I miss these more medium-budget thrillers from the 90s. Wish we got more films in a similar vein nowadays. Less pretentious and more focused on entertaining. I would say I wish Kiss the Girls got the 4K treatment as well, but that one is also Paramount, so it makes me nervous.

NOTE: I did not compress the caps since it'd lower the fidelity from the source/disc.

Thankfully Face/Off will be done by Kino who are at least doing a great job with compression / encoding.

Not bad. Movies Unlimited had 25% off at the end of the year and got it for $23.99. Wasn't sure if I was going to pick it up, but PP titles don't go on sale much so I bit. Also picked up Blue Hawaii for the same price (along with a few other movies). Hope to watch this movie this weekend.

I scanned the flip side of the cover art as well. The scan picked up some nasty reflections down each side of the spine. I cleaned that up a bit in Photoshop. I could completely remove any signs of the reflections, but it's not that important to me. It's tolerable now anyway. Well, sort of.

In any event, looking forward to watching the Blu-ray this weekend. My equipment end to end is limited to 1080p so. One of these days I'll upgrade to 4K. Until then I have no problems purchasing a given 4K UHD release, so long as the Blu-ray is included.

Gave this a spin last night. The picture quality is often stunning, mainly whenever they are on the water -- or any of the frequent aerial shots (there's an establishing shot over Colorado that is just gorgeous.) Grain is subtle to moderate, detail is high.

Then there's the nighttime stuff in New Orleans, where the colors are beautifully vivid. There's a particular shot of Tommy Lee Jones through a rain-dabbled window, and the water droplets are picking up the neon blue lights from the French Quarter -- and it just looks lovely.

There are a handful of DNR'd optical transitions where the PQ drops off and the image becomes smooth, but those are brief and rare.

I've never seen this movie before and it's a nice little revenge thriller, I can see why it's remained popular -- Judd is charming, and Jones is in full-on FUGITIVE mode. PQ is excellent.

I would guess that is lesser than Lambs, Seven, Kiss the Girls and even Copycat (I like this one even though crime shows that have followed it makes it feel cliche now), but better than something like Jennifer Eight.

In my opinion all the ones you mentioned are way better than Double Jeopardy, Double Jeopardy is very straight forward, has no filmic style or sense (the cinematography is just by the numbers and hammy), it's very bland, if it didn't have the cast that it has it would feel like a made for TV movie of the week. Now don't get me wrong it's a very well made film but other than the "double jeopardy" angle and Tommy Lee Jones basically in his The Fugivitive/ US Marshalls mode it has nothing going for it. (just my opinion)
