Thank you for putting on another interesting TV shootout.

Will there be a summation of judges thoughts on the strengths of the respective TVs?

I did listen to the stream and I seem recall that there were some more detailed qualifying statements made to the streamer hosts to why the QD-OLEDs were actually reproducing colors just a bit better than the WOLED, as well no overshoot issues.

@ KMFDMvsEnya, thanks for watching Stop the FOMO's live stream today with his key interviews while he covered our TV Shootout.

I expect the media and some of the YouTubers that were present, Classy, Brain and FOMO to be discussing and covering this in great depth and detail.

This will answer a lot of question to please read just the top few paragraphs of our TV Shootout webpage and also review the results.

Great event Robert.

I have been monitoring feedback from AVSForum and the biggest question from most is the scoring for the S95C near black grayscale on the scorecard for Uniformity/Grayscale in both SDR and HDR.

Most are wondering what the judges saw in that which led to the S95C having a noticeably lower score over the A95L and G3. John Reformato said he didn't know why either and thought the S95C would score higher and he said asking you might be better for clarification.

I started paying attention to the shootout in 2019 and I think it's getting better every year! I'm sure the judges appreciated that you had 2 mastering monitors available which made for easier comparison. Thanks for going through all the trouble Robert I know it's your passion but hopefully it also helps your business.

The Hisense UX and Sony X95L comparison was good to see on day2. I think I may have heard Brian mention that we might not get the Z9L or whatever they would call the successor to the current z9k (if there is one coming). I don't want that to be true...some of us still need that brute force for the living rooms that aren't light controlled

I must be missing something with the consensus or conclusions of the panel?

It seems startling that the Sony A95L led in most categories, are you crowning a king of TV’s this year?

Curious why you think that's startling? "The Sony OLED is the best TV for movies, leaving price aside" has been true for basically forever now. (LG thrives on being comparatively inexpensive and not much less-excellent, plus being much better for gaming. Samsung thrives on people liking bad things. LEDs thrive because they're very, very inexpensive.)

If anything, this is such an obvious result that I wonder how much of it is just that the judges "knew" the Sony would be the best one and had some subconscious bias. Like, honestly if you were to predict that next year's shootout would have Sony at the top, LG trailing a little bit, and Samsung impressing in some areas but overall being inconsistent (and every non-OLED in a distant last place), it'd be a safe prediction.

Had no idea it was a QD OLED, instead of a WOLED. The newer QD tech is kicking the older OLEDs in the pants. Wish the charts had speced the OLED difference for casual readers. BTW, your reasons are why I bought my Z9D back in the day, with its 14-bit processing, and BMD. It’s still going strong.

As much as the A95L looks to be the real deal no need to move on from the Z9D just yet. I was surprised there was even a Z9K. I thought Sony refreshed that line every two years with the Z9J being on schedule. I think I can coax the Z9D to keep bringing it until the MicroLED line becomes affordable in a few years. At least that's the plan as of now.

Former 65" and 75" Z9D owner/fanboy here.

As much as I love my Z9Ds (in particular the 75" model), I have zero regrets replacing them with the 65A95K and 77A95L respectively. No other Sony LCD after 2016 has been able to match the Z9D, but both the A95K and A95L are worth replacing the Z9D for.

Yes we crowned the A95L the new "King of 4K TV®" for the 2023 model year!

Here's some very excellent coverage of our event in Big Picture Big Sound.

Before the shootout, I really had my mind set on the Sony Z9K but now I have to rethink that and seriously consider the A95L. I was really intent on going back to LCD because I didn’t want to deal with the possibility of burn-in as I have a pretty bad case of that on my old LG 65E6P. Ugh, decisions, decisions…

@ jameslee17, Sorry to say it was easy to burn in static images on all OLED TVs prior to the 2018 model year, which is when all brands started implementing several technologies to reduce the threat of burn-in. Today's QD OLED and WRGB OLED TVs are very resistant to burn-in.

With that said, LCD TVs are still even more difficult to damage the screen when static images are left on the screen and repeated frequently. Some of the new 2023 premium MiniLED TVs have also very nicely improved with deeper blacks and better contrast control and greatly reduced blooming.

Sony's new flagship A95L Master Series QD OLED is the best TV for the 2023 model year and again I would not be overly concerned about burn-in.

Robert, your flux capacitor is strong.😁 Mind telling me who wins the Super Bowl that year? Papa needs a new pair of shoes.

I also do a fair amount of gaming but I’m not a stickler for response time and all that. I’m wondering if the Z9K is more than adequate for that. The main concern going from OLED to LCD would be blooming, but everything I’ve read about the Z9K says blooming is not much of an issue on that display.

That being said, the A95L sure is feeling more and more appealing.
No mistake on either TV choice, with the edge in favor of Sony's new flagship A95L Master Series QD OLED TV.

Hisense's U8K performed very well compared to the other QD MiniLED TVs.

We have the U8K on display in our showroom along with all of the best MiniLED TVs so you can easily compare them. If your travels take you to NY please stop by to see these new premium TVs in person.

Oh good. I'm a U8K owner, so of course i champion the model. I'll take respect as much as a win.
