I'm beginning to feel like a broken record here since no one is answering but since you got yours off of Amazon.ca, did it come with a slipcover?

Having seen the film earlier this year in theaters, I can vouch the score is boosted and sinking sounds are more pronounced which I really dug and made it more of a dramatic experience towards the end. Glad this was translated to the disc.

I thought the 4K DV presentation was absolutely STUNNING myself. Put me in the camp of "damn, this movie has never looked better. Wow!"

There was one scene that troubled me however. I spent the first half of the movie in awe at the fine facial details, particularly Rose. Around 1hr18 or 1hr19, there's a shot that slowly zooms in on Rose's face - and it looks completely fake. Her face is smooth with no detail and she looks like a video game character with poor graphics. It certainly drew me out of the moment. Has anyone else seen or noticed this? I'll check again over the weekend to find an exact time.

Green screen shot, the first class lounge set wasn't constructed full size but as a miniature, so they shot the actors on a motion control rig and composited them into the background.

Thank you - I had read about that but didn't realize that was the scene. It's certainly distracting.

After some comments about the 1912 fan edit version, I went back and watched again. It's a very nice and watchable edit, but the best thing about it is that they corrected the color to match the 2005 DVD and it looks gorgeous. The sky is blue, reds are vibrant, skin tones are accurate and the saturation is very good overall. It's so unfortunate that Paramount kept the muted green color grade for the 4K release. It really could look so so so much better on that front. It makes me want to rip the disc and correct it myself in Resolve.

Well, there it is

It would certainly suffice to call Titanic's 2160p/Dolby Vision UHD presentation "perfect" and "flawless" and leave the review with those words, but to do so would rob the review, and the reader, of at least a brief description of the majesty that is on display in every frame. Really, it's hard to express the excellence seen here beyond just saying "wow." This is a stellar, striking, and indeed perfect and flawless presentation, one of those images that even years after the UHD format's debut still manages to delight even the most grizzled reviewer and faithful format and film fan.

I’m convinced the 4k Digital that I am watching is different than the 4k Disc, than.

The reviews are overwhelmingly positive. The reviewers weren’t afraid to call out thr T2 4K so I can’t see why they wouldn’t here

I don't think I can remember such divided opinion on a disc from one extreme to the other.

Not saying that the application of this is not quite good but it certainly is not flawless. Better but not flawless.

Not on my watch.

You can put all the fake grain you want on top of it, every time there's motion the image has its detail scrubbed away. Which comes back overexaggerated when the motion stops.

I thought we were done with the extremist picture comments in this thread? No?

Well, then how do we move on to the fact that some of the PG-13 and China mainland edits made it into this release?

Lovely review from Martin and one that definitely reflects a lot of my own experience watching the film via its 4K disc. I know some might balk at this, but even the streaming version on Apple TV looks impressive. Titanic got a wonderful transfer, and I’m glad the site officially reflects that.

Edit:

I want to add that while I don’t agree it looks “flawless”, it still looks damn great, even with some of its imperfections. Nothing looks flawless, including the reference quality discs some of you likely adore. But that doesn’t mean it can’t be celebrated for what it has given us, which is a whole lotta good. Titanic will go down as a 4K winner, whether some want to admit it or not, and the abundance of positive reviews are rightfully going to support that.

Wasn't the movie always PG-13? China? Wut?
