Well, for a few:
[Show spoiler]

Frodo, Sam, and Pippin originally begin the journey, Merry joins later at the Brandywine River.

Frodo first accidentally puts on the Ring while singing a song in the Prancing Pony and slipping.

Arwen is not the first Elf to help them, but Glorfindel.

Frodo rides to the river by himself, not with an Elf.

The Council of Elrond is different, and "somewhat" less dramatic.

Frodo does not slip on Caradhras, with Boromir picking up the Ring.

It was Gandalf's idea from the beginning to go through Moria, while others, notably Aragorn warned against it.

Gandalf chooses the upward passage, not the downward passage, at their stop in Moria where he has "no memory of this place".

Their escape from the Chamber of Mazarbul is different.

Their sojourn in Lothlorien is different.

The island of Tol Brandir does not split the Rauros waterfall.

Frodo's vision on Amon Hen when he puts on the Ring is different.

He does not talk to Aragorn on Amon Hen.

Frodo and Sam's separation from the Fellowship is different.

Frodo does not fall into the mere of dead faces and is not confronted by ghostly apparitions.

Sam does not fall down the cliff at the Black Gate.

Faramir does not want to take the Ring to Gondor, he lets the Hobbits go.

The people of Rohan are not sent to Helm's Deep.

Aragorn does not fall off a cliff at Helm's Deep, and therefore there is no need for his horse to revive him.

The only Elf at Helm's Deep is Legolas. There is no Elvish army.

Once the battle is over, and Gandalf, Aragorn, Theoden etc. go to Isengard, that entire scene and sequence is different. Saruman and Wormtongue do not die at Isengard, per the EE, but in the Shire.

The palantir scene with Pippin is different, in a different location.

Elrond does not go to Rohan and give Aragorn the sword Anduril; Aragorn left Rivendell with the sword.

Paths of the Dead scene is completely different.

The army of the dead does not fight at Minas Tirith, but leaves after securing the fleet at Pelargir.

Frodo does not send Sam home.

The Shelob's lair sequence is different, and Frodo does not confront Gollum after he exits the tunnel, Sam does.

Gandalf confronts the Witch King at the gate of Minas Tirith, and the Witch King leaves when the horns of Rohan blow. Gandalf and Pippin do not wait to die in a courtyard.

It is not Aragorn's idea to distract Sauron's army while Frodo is in Mordor.

The scene at the Black Gate is different.

The coronation of Aragorn is completely different.

... and there are others, but I have to go.

I kind of had a feeling Elrond's trip to the Dimholt was fake and had been done for dramatization purposes, Elrond would not have delayed his trip to Valinor just to deliver Anduril.

Yeah! You have to wonder were all these techs are going with their banter... People can no longer enjoy what's before them.
Damnit it's The Best These Films Have Looked, Yet! ... and some of us are appreciative of the fact that they've been made available in this format to enjoy.

I have been watching LOTR nonstop since Thursday. First, the BD set...then beginning Saturday, the EE set from Netflix. With my 7.1 Onkyo, w/all Def Tech speakers....EE DTS track sounds better than DTS MA BD track.

What do you all think?

FYI to all: Just crawled from under a rock, and watching EE DVDs for the first time.
No way, the uncompressed track is way better.

Well, in all fairness, in the book it happens the exact same way. Jackson just (wisely) moved it from the very beginning of TTT to the end of FotR. In terms of drama, it wouldn't have made know sense to follow the book here.

I think it could've worked but I guess it would've given FoTR a far less moving and exciting ending.

Let the horn of Helm Hammerhand sound in the Deep, one last time. Who names their child Helm Hammerhand?

I still think one of the funniest things in this series is the Elf and the Dwarf competing for kills in every battle, made for a bit of comic relief. "That still counts as 1!"

As funny as they were, it kinda took the seriousness away and the sense of grave danger to me

I have no idea what Blu-ray and DVD you are watching, but that statement is just not accurate...

Sense of grave danger?! Come on - they were main characters, lol, you just knew they wouldn't die. Now, grave danger indeed for the innocuous hordes of Rohan soldiers is more like it.

I do think that part where Greenleaf jumps on a shield and uses it to slide down a staircase while firing arrows like crazy is way over the top.

I have a 40 gig PS3 and no problems here, it doesn't appear to be a widespread problem.

Well, they could've just pranced, danced & sing their way through the battle then

Why not? If they're joking around, singing wouldn't be much of a diffrence during a battle.

Yeah I agree, I had a moment during that daring stunt.

The counting thing is actually from the books so there is that. Helm's Deep is almost nothing in the movies like it is in the books though. Jackson took quite a bit of artistic license there.

How about the "Toss me" comment from the dwarf at Helm's?

LOL I doubt that's what Jackson was thinking of when they shot that but amusing nonetheless.
