Thank you -- and yup, the basic outlines of the story are in The Silm, specifically the Akallabeth chapter. It tells of the how the later kings of Numenor chose to "cling to life," and the schism between the kings and the Faithful, and the eventual Fall. And of course Aragorn references it in the LotR Appendix.

There is more Numenor material in Unfinished Tales, including a great story called Aldarion and Erendis, a more detailed timeline of the kings with notes about them, and that sort of thing.

I highly recommend Unfinished Tales for fans of Middle-earth, even if you aren't wild about the elf-centric Silmarillion. I'd say more than half of UT is about Numenor and Middle-earth.

Can someone tell me what gift did Boromir get from Galadriel? Did he even get one?

In recently rewatching the Extended Edition, I saw he was the only one who didn't get one.

I havent read the books since middle school, but Im pretty sure Boromir did indeed get a gift...

Boromir received golden belt from Galadriel. Aragorn got sheath for his sword If I remember.

The 6th channel isn't discrete so it's really 5.1, it's not really a problem with your set-up at all.

Correct. The gifts the fellowship receives from Galadriel in the movies are not exactly the same ones as in the books; however I was glad to see in the movie that Gimli received the strands of her hair.

I personally think the on the fly 2d to 3d, 3d's do which only adds depth looks better then any 2d to 3d converted footage I have shown that tries to make things come out of the screen. So unless something changes there is no need to upgrade.

Think of it as an alternate universe/Crisis On Infinite Middle Earths/Star Trekkie kind of thing.

A reboot where they do the entire story with state of the art video technology and when the Blu-rays come out, they are reference quality.

And they can start with the most excellent script done for the BBC dramatization.

One of the best moments of ROTK(Book)

[Show spoiler]Grond & Witch King's black magic broke the gondor's gate.

Everyone fled seeing witch king except gandalf on shadowfax.

Gandalf: You cannot enter here.

Witch King halted

Gandalf: Go back to the abyss prepared for you! Fall into the nothingness that awaits you and your master. Go!

Witch King: Old fool! Old fool! This is my hour. Do you not know death when you see it? Die now and curse in vain!

He lifted up his sword and flames ran down the blade.

Gandalf did not move.

Suddenly horns started blowing. Rohan had come at last and witch king vanished.

Agreed. And as I have said before, far superior to what occurred in the movie.

What of the wizard?
I will break him.
-_-
I blame Radagast the Brown for that, jk.
Fixing that and adding the scouring are pretty much the only 2 things I wish Jackson would've done.
