Yes, I've read all of your post and I'm very interested. However, I've got a million other things I have to do before I can invest my efforts into this. Plus, I'm worried that it may affect me when I'm awake. If I can start to make dreams more real, who's to say that the two may not start to merge and then reality will start feeling like a dream. I really can't afford to mess up my reality right now. LOL

Basically, I don't know if it's safe to blur the line between my reality and the dream world.

Yeah, it can be difficult to concentrate on the task when there is a lot of other things going on. A lot of people prefer to do it a simpler way, through the use of supplements. I hear combinations of choline and galantamine can do wonders for dreaming. They are supposed to be natural and safe. I've never taken anything other than a little bit of melatonin to enhance recall and dream intensity.

As far as blurring the lines of reality goes. Unless you already have some really bad psychological problem where you can't tell the difference from fantasy and reality. That won't happen. Lucid dreaming actually helps to make a person more aware, not less. That's a common worry of beginners. But I assure you it's a safe practice. The only real difference between lucid dreaming and regular dreaming, is that in one you know you are dreaming, and the other you do not. I've been doing it most of my life with no adverse effects. And I know many others have been as well.

If you want to learn more about it there are plenty of books on the subject, as well as plenty of information online. It's not an occult type of thing either, as some people believe. There is plenty of scientific research being done on it. Exploring The World Of Lucid Dreaming is a great scientific look into lucid dreaming. Written by Stephen Leberge from Stanford University, where they do dreaming experiments in dream laboratories. As well as describe induction techniques. It's an older book, but still one of the best ones out there.

Thanks for all of the info. I find it very interesting. As for now, let's take it into PM so that we're not taking the thread too far off track.

Thanks again!

You're welcome. It's kind of relevant to the thread since the movie is based on lucid dreaming. But yeah, if you have any other questions just send me a PM.

That is wrong. 3D is the last thing Christopher Nolan wants in Inception, which was not a all-digital 4K 3D film like Avatar. It was filmed in partial 65mm (with some 35mm/digital elements) and in stunning 2D! Warner Bros., I feel, is starting to get greedy.

I don't know why anyone consumer would be against this film being converted to 3D. Who says anyone will be forced to view it in 3D? If you don't want to see it in 3D, simply don't purchase it in 3D. At one point in time people were saying the same thing about old movies being converted to color. I always thought if people didnt want to see those films in color, simply turn down the color on their sets, or buy the original. As consumers we have options...

Inception is that kind of movie that should have been shot in 3D from the beginning. It just Christopher Nolan is not a huge fan of 3D and thinks it lacks in resolution compared to regular film. Its also more costly to move around equipment when filming. Too bad, Inception would make a great 3D feature and especially with the mindset of Nolans and his rigorous effort for perfection. Nolan should go see some of the IMAX 3D films they shot in space, not only does they look good it had to be a big challenge to get the gear working in space!

Inception needs to stay 2D. Some of the optical illusions in the movie would not work in 3D. Take for instance the stairway which seemed continuous but was in fact a foreground flight of steps visually aligned with a background flight of steps creating the illusion of one seamless flight of steps. This illusion allowed Arthur (or whatever his name was) to throw the Goon he was fighting over the edge. With 3D and the depth perception that it provides, the audience would have been able to detect the difference between the foreground stair and the background stair, breaking the illusion of one flight of steps.

For the same reasons a game like Echochrome on the PS3 would not work in 3D either, since it relies on optical illusions only possible in 2D.

Its like all the buzz over upconverted dvd when blu-ray/hddvd was starting out. If the data isnt there you cant just magic it up.

You cant polish a turd.
I think if you had enough time and energy you can polish a turd.

Yea, Inception is fine the way it is to be honest. Some movies either A) Just don't need it or B) Wouldn't take full advantage of 3D's full capabilities

So, if they DO release a 3D version, it wouldn't be pure 3D I'd imagine and would be a wasteful investment.

Question A couldn't be more irrelevent. No home theatre enhancement is nessesary. Is high definition nessesary. No. Is color nessesary. No. Would you dispense with these as well. NO.

Question B is relevent and if Inception is converted to 3D it should be done with time and care and with permission of the movies filmmakers.

You know with all this debate of 2d to 3d or keep it the way it was made kinda reminds me of the great debates that were made when it was keep it black and white or colorize the film

I think that 2D to 3D is like Pan and Scan to Letterbox, the director makes a picture through his eyes and his eyes are 3 dimensional and include his wide-view. Just thats what it seems to me.

The debate about 3D conversions actually reminds me of whether Blu-Ray worth the extra bucks.

For some people now DVDs are fine and Blu-Ray are a waste of money.
I take those people who always say no to 3D conversion without even watching it the same as people who refuse to go blu
it's optional, of course, 3D is optional too.

Still, I heard once that Chris Nolan and Zack Snyder are both big supporters of 3D but won't want their own movies to be 3D just yet. Let alone conversion.
I'll say no for Inception 3D if it wasn't properly plan and have great quality like Disney's.
