So she is comparing the people who are outraged at the latest changes and don't love everything her father is doing to the saga to child molesters? What is this girl on? I don't care if she is (mis)quoting a line from firefly. She must know what this type of comment can stir up. She is not doing her father any favours with saying stuff like this.

I don't think i've seen this much outrage between fans at any time in Star Wars' history. Even the "Greedo shoots first" incident wasn't this bad. I really can't understand what the hell George was thinking when he added "No...... Nooooooooooo" to ROTJ. this was one of the most ridiculed things of Star Wars saga since jar Jar. Why the hell would he add it again to such a climatic moment? It's like he decided to stick a huge middle finger up to fans of the original trilogy. he must have known that this type of thing would split the fandom even further. It's shows just how bad this addition is when you see people who have always been staunch supporters of everything he has done, from the special editions to the prequels, suddenly swap sides. That is one thing i never expected to see.

Well the first new scene from the prequels is up. Strangely enough it features the Obi-Wan nooooooo scene.

Guy probably only took the OT set and left the complete saga and PT in the warehouse. No one is concerned about changes in the PT, so no one cares. The OT, on the other hand...

I bought my original trilogy lasers for about 10.00 each as brand new back in late 90's when a laserdisc mail-order company was doing a sale on them.

The Special Edition box set I Paid I think 124.99 (retail if I recall)

katie is mostly just retweeting things sent to her. People should not be giving her grief, she is not in charge of what her Dad does. She says she is not even in the loop on the changes and what they are. Why attack a person's family when you disagree with something they do.

Wow. Sure, George gave everyone what they wanted in 06, except, oh . . . The transfers on those discs were lifted from the laserdiscs and were not anamorphic widescreen. Shame. To boot, many parts of the film seemed to get little to no attention by the "quality control department". Lucas never gives anyone anything without taking something in return.

Fans simply want the originals on Blu and proper widescreen, is that such a problem? No. Is that a big deal? No. Why are you so bothered over this? The problem's between Lucas and the fans.

Also, they're not JUST movies, as you say. AVATAR is just a movie. Predator is just a movie. INCEPTION, is just a movie.

Now, Star Wars may be a movie, but it's penetrated more than just popular culture as we know it. It has, in a sense, become synonymous with the American Culture itself. It defines our people, in the same way that Seven Samurai and other Kurosawa films define the films of Japan and their culture.

And of course, Star Wars, has literally defined entire generations of people, inspired them to make their own films, or to sometimes just believe that there's some good left in this world.

For one, I'm a little bothered about the new changes myself, and have lost even more respect for the man who was once THE George Lucas. But even so, don't go on making hollow comments about something you don't really understand. You may be a Star Wars Fan, but a film buff, or a film aficionado, or enthusiast, or Cinephile as some may call it, ye are not.

The master negatives, or "film prints" for the Original Unaltered Version of STAR WARS IV: A NEW HOPE, were destroyed long ago. All that exists is this 'special' edition.

I totally agree that these people should be harassing her just because something they disagree with that her father has done. I think that type of thing is bang out of order and these people shouldn't be allowed to do stuff like that. Sometimes though it is best to ignore these sort of things because you may make matters worse.

Hey Miadaskate,

I would guess Amazon will update your pre-order date as the release date gets closer. The same issue happened to me when I preordered the LOTR set on Blu. I originally ordered it when the preorder went live and the dates shifted around a little. You should be fine.

Some Star Wars fans are just too obsessive, I don't think they're too many on this forum. But people giving out threats and claiming Lucas raped their childhood are really going to far. These people need to be a little more civilized to help legitimize the cause.
