Interesting this one is on the shelf, I wonder if a title like The Apartment also? I would think there could be another exclusive BB release on he shelf from MGM also?

great news!
love random BB exclusives of great films on blu-ray.
edit: I see a dvd for $14.99 on BB website, no blu-ray at all.

if i remember correctly these are the same features that were included the first time Best Buy released "Sid & Nancy" exclusively, years back on DVD. Back then it had an exclusive slipcover and not sure if it was released nationwide afterwards...
Yes. It was released nationwide afterwards. it was also packaged together with This Is Spinal Tap. Now I can finally get rid of that double feature and upgrade Sid & Nancy. But I will keep my Criterion also.

This is what features the Criterion DVD has:
•England’s Glory, a documentary on the making of Sid & Nancy
•The infamous 1976 Bill Grundy interview with the Sex Pistols
•A rare telephone interview with Sid Vicious
•Interviews with Sid and Nancy from D.O.A.: A Right of Passage
•Audio commentary by screenwriter Abbe Wool, actors Gary Oldman and Chloe Webb, cultural historian Greil Marcus, filmmakers Julien Temple and Lech Kowalski; and musician Eliot Kidd.

It's the commentary that I really enjoyed!

Great movie. I have the Criterion DVD. I will probably hold out for that on BD, but if you've never seen it, definetly check it out.

The problem is that Criterion dvd is OOP and they have not had the license for it for a while now. I doubt you will ever see Criterion release this on BD.

Have fun holding out. Criterion no longer has the rights to Sid and Nancy. The MGM blu-ray version is all you're likely to get.

Thanks for the info. I don't really know anything about this sort of stuff. Only reason I bought the Criterion DVD is because it was the only one available at the store. It just happen to have some nice bonus material (over the VHS that I saw before that).

DVDTalk has this listed as being a Best Buy exclusive until 12/27/11. This title really passed us by. How does Best Buy expect this to sell if they never even advertised it?

This is great news.

My Best Buys didn't have it (3 locations) but it is still wonderful to know it exists.

This was one of Gary Oldman's greatest roles.

I too still have the Criterion DvD.

Anybody see any other MGM titles that may slipped by us?

I wonder when they are going to start releasing Woody Allen's 70s movies.
