That may partially be the truth with Petersen. He's clearly happy in Boise and making a ton of money (especially considering the cost of living in Boise). He's pretty much got a job for life in Boise, but if he went to a school like UCLA and couldn't get the program on track then he's out of a job in 4 years and then what? Dan Hawkins helped make Boise a national power and then left for the money the Colorado job offered. 5 years later he was out of a job.

I used to think Peterson would leave for the right job but at this point I don't know what that job would be. He wasn't interested in Florida, USC, Ohio State, or Penn State. I could maybe see him taking the Oregon job if that ever came open. He was an assistant there before he came to Boise and it's a school that has a lot of recent success and good facilities.

Yep, he might be smart enough to realize that losing two years with field goals that costs you a NC at Florida, USC, or OSU could get you fired, but in Boise it makes you a god. But I give him props if he just content to stay where he is.

WTF happened?!? I fully expected Clemson to win this game by a decent margin. It's a total massacre with West Virginia leading 56-20 and it's not even halfway through the 3rd quarter.

EDIT - WVA up 63-20 and counting. This is one of the ugliest bowl games I've ever seen.

You obviously underrated the #6 passing offense in the country.
I mean, hell, Geno Smith nearly threw for 500 yards when they played LSU earlier this year.

That was ugly! The ACC really needs Miami and FSU to get their programs back in order. It lonely here at the top. For some reason, Beamer just couldn't beat Clemson this year. Obviously, the Hokies were the better team, but they just couldn't get past Clemson. Sort of how, back before the Cowboys were a top team, Oklahama always struggled with OSU. Sure, Oklahoma was the better team, but they always had trouble.

After going 0-2 in BCS bowls this year, the ACC is now 2-13 all time in BCS bowls. They have the same number of BCS wins as the WAC, and fewer BCS wins than the Mountain West (3 wins). 14 schools have as many or more BCS wins than the entire ACC.

Thats because UMD has only been allowed to play in one... We'd have fixed that number

Looking at this website, I am not arriving at the same 2-13 ACC bowl record that I see pasted in all the news articles. http://www.bcsfootball.org/news/story?id=4809856

Virginia Tech: 1-4
FSU: 1-4
Clemson: 0-1
Georgia Tech: 0-1
Wake Forest: 0-1
Maryland: 0-1

Miami was 3-1 in BCS bowls while a member of the Big East, and Virginia Tech was also 0-1 in BCS bowls while a member of the Big East. Miami has never qualified for a BCS bowl since joining the ACC in 2004.

I saw the 2-13 stat this morning on ESPN, but it appears they failed to mention that the 2-13 record is for current ACC members. Also, Florida State is 1-5 in BCS bowls.

I just edited that post because I realized that the 2004 Orange Bowl (which Miami won) counted for the 2003 season, Miami's last season in the Big East. Miami has never qualified for a BCS bowl while a member of the ACC.

But I am still not arriving at the 13 losses (unless they're counting VaTech's one Big East loss but not any of Miami's Big East wins/losses).

Yes, they'd be counting Virginia Tech's Big East BCS bowl loss. The number must be the record of the ACC's current members in BCS bowls regardless of which conference they were in when the game was played. I believe the wording on ESPN's bottom line was that the ACC is 2-13 all-time in BCS bowls, while they should have said that was the record of current ACC teams.

But it's not the record of current-ACC teams because Miami won three BCS bowls before switching to the ACC. The record of current-ACC teams appears to be 5-14 by my count.

(Ironically, Miami won more BCS bowls in its 6 years as a member of the Big East than the entire rest of the ACC has won in the 7 years since.)

After reviewing the numbers I've found that ESPN's stat is correct. Here is the ACC's BCS history:

1998-1999: Florida State loss
1999-2000: Florida State win
2000-2001: Florida State loss
2001-2002: Maryland loss
2002-2003: Florida State loss
2003-2004: Florida State loss
2004-2005: Virginia Tech loss
2005-2006: Florida State loss
2006-2007: Wake Forest loss
2007-2008: Virginia Tech loss
2008-2009: Virginia Tech win
2009-2010: Georgia Tech loss
2010-2011: Virginia Tech loss
2011-2012: Virginia Tech loss, Clemson loss

ACC All-time BCS record: 2-13

ACC All-time BCS record: 2-13
Haha, that bcsfootball.org site that I was using wrote "Florida State" for all years except the 2006 Orange Bowl ("Florida St.") so I missed it when I performed my ctrl+F.

So in conclusion,

The ACC is 2-13 in BCS bowl games. The worst offenders are FSU (1-5) and VaTech (1-4). Clemson, GT, WF, and MD each have lost once.

In addition, VaTech was 0-1 in BCS bowls before joining the ACC, and Miami was 3-1.

The Big 10 is 12-13 in BCS bowls. Since Big 10 teams travel so well they have been selected for at-large bids in every year but 2000-2001, 2001-2002, and 2004-2005 and have played in more BCS games than any other conference, with the SEC second at 21 appearances.
