@Shin Ra:

Metal Gear Solid: Essentials Collection will be able to play on my 60gig PS3, right? I believe that the 60gig is able to play ALL PS1 and PS2 titles reguardless of the circumstances.

I was just hoping that Sony didn't make it only play the old PS1 and PS2 library games and actaully made it still able to play new releases for last gen systems.

I need to know becuase I don't want to buy it, and then have to go out and but a PS2 again...

My 60Gb PS3, plays MGS1, MGS2 and MGS3 without a problem. There were some framedrops on MGS3though when playing on PS3.

But when buying the essentials collection, make sure you are in the correct region, PS2 games are still region locked on PS3. The Essential collection will only be released in North-America for now.

As far as I know all four disks (2 CD's still for the first) are basically the same as the originals on the data-side.

I can't remember the press release stating April 1st specifically, but yes:

Yeah, I remember that one. In MGS3 it's the same, at the end when the president speak, use the free cam to look around at the window behind him, you'll see Ocelot.

This has been answered better by someone else already, but I'd just like to add that Nationality may have something to do with it too. Japanese IP, Japanese console. Metal Gear is also a Playstation icon as well isn't it - if it ever gets onto a MS console, the Playstation brand is in trouble. GTA is a multi-format title - it may start as an exclusive but it'll be on any format above a toaster or a Nintendo within a year.

They already released a MGS on a MS console. Remember MGS2S on Xbox? In fact that game was released on the Xbox, before going to the PS2

You're right you know, well, I never knew that.

In fairness I remember playing it on the PS2 and it was a bit pants, so its no great loss for MS to have that one.

in fact it was released on the ps2 on nov 14 2001 and the xbox got it nov 5 2002. so sony had it first!
Also it was called MGS2 substance for the xbox! whic were just the Vr missions and some other crappy extras! (those are the north american release dates, EU version took longer to come out on xbox)

No, MGS2:Sons of Liberty was first released on the PS2.

A year later, MGS2:substance (it had MGS2:Sons of Liberty plus extra stuff such as VR-missions etc.)
This game was released on the PS2, X-box and the PC. The X-box port was crappy and full of bugs, not sure on the PC version, but I think it was buggy as well.

The KP Report Session 083

Quote:
No time to eat, sleep, or record a new podcast as we're in monster-crunch mode, so we're running the "Break Glass In Case of Emergency" episode of The Kojima Productions Report.

It's a listener mail-only show that Ryan Payton and Mark MacDonald recorded back in February.

As someone who got lost along the MG trail and who is counting down the days for MG4, I'm glad that next week I've got the MG: Essentials pack coming.

Nice little pack for $30.

Time to catch up.

I'm glad they changed the gameplay around for this one. After playing Splinter Cell it was hard to go back to MGS 3 because of the way the game controlled. This one seems to have taken all the best from a collection of games and rolled them into one. My only concern for this game is the breaks in gameplay for cinematics. They are usually overkill to begin with, and with this supposedly being Kojima's last MGS, I can only imagine how often and how long we'll be stopping play to watch a movie.

Best Buy salesmen in my area have told me they believe that the MGS4/PS3 80Gb bundle may be released before the release of the game. Can anyone else confirm this?
