United Kingdom How many movies can you/ do you watch during the course of a year?

I don't mean just new releases, i mean literally how many movies can you fit in watching from beginning to end during the course of a year? I must add that this is along with living a normal life, going to work etc. socialising and the like. I decided, for fun on 1 January 2014 to make a record of literally every single movie i watch from beginning to end. If i watch the same movie more than once, then i count it more than once. I thought it would be interesting to see how many i fit in and to see if i could watch the actual equivalent number of my entire blu ray collection (never mind DVD and VHS) over the course of a year. I have a little over 700 blu rays so i thought is that possible for me to watch that many movies in one calender year? Although this might seem a little sad, i'm not going overboard with making a record of this, i literally just type the movie into a notepad app on my phone, giving it a number to see how many i've watched. It'll be interesting to see what number i'm on come 31 December 2014, as we get closer to the midway point of the year. How many movies do you think you can fit in over a year and would it be more or less than you'd expect?

so far I'm on 373 movies watched during 2014.

I'm also keeping a record of every film I watch in full this year, so far I'm on 29. Which works out to 69.6 by the end of the year, not sure if that's good or not...

Kevin Smith is my most watched director with 5 films, with Gravity being my most watched film, having seen it twice (once with friends, once on my own).

Every other year, I challenge myself to watch 365 movies I haven't seen before. In 2013 I finished at 389. That doesn't include rewatches but I tried to keep those to a minimum. This year I'll probably watch about 300 but that'll include movies I've seen before.

I say i would average 3 a week, at least one cinema trip and 2 blu rays or netflix. If i have time off, i would double that. So at least 160 a year if i carry on that way!

I only keep count of the films I watch at the cinema - I've got a log going all the way back to 1986 when I started going as a 3 year old (though a lot of the early years are of course done in retrospect!).

The most I've ever been is last year when I went 158 times and watched 140 different films. Before that it was 2006 when I went 135 times and watched 128 different films. So far this year I've been 46 times and watched 39 different films.

I don't keep track of films I watch at home, though it's obviously a lot less than at the cinema, especially as my fiancee and I enjoy watching TV shows together. A few years ago though I did do a '365 films in 365 days' challenge (cinema and home) and just managed that so that's probably the maximum I've ever watched over a year.

This year is the first year i've been keeping count of how many movie and tv series i watch the year.

So far i'm at 119 movies and 4 TV series. I'm mainly keeping count so that I can challenge myself to beat it next year. The count mainly consists of titles i haven't seen before.

I just realised i neglected to say how many I'm on. Up to and including last night I've watched 373 films so far this year. I've surprised myself by the amount. I could well be on over 1000 before the year is out, although that's still a way off. I do work full time and have a life i assure you!

About 300 a year, including TV shows seasons (for instance, Justified Season 3 counts as one, as a movie such as Ma nuit chez Maud).

It keeps getting a bit more every year since I'm working (much less than when I was a high shooler though, when I was eating VHS all day every day ), but I always have some months where it's a bit less than others for various reasons (holidays, video gaming, etc).

I go much less to the theater than I used to. Now, I'm mostly watching movies and TV shows on BD (probably 90% of the total). I used to go to the theater twice a week. Now, I go around 20 times a year.

And I almost never watch anything on DVD or on TV (maybe 5 times a year).

I watch a movie each afternoon. Some new (to me) some have seen before but not in my top 100.

Most evenings I'll watch half hour or so of a movie in bed, I prefer this to reading and over two/three evenings complete another movie. These ones are old favourites I've seen many times but as I have around 100+ old faves from the 70s-00s is easy to only re watching the same film once a year/18months. I'm happily married so not all evenings are spent watching movies.
I've a decent 42" TV in the bedroom and multi region blu player and sennheiser surround sound headphone, so it's no loss watching there rather than in the lounge where I have a bigger TV and set up.

I guess around 500 a year. My wife loves movies too so even on holidays we'll have a room with a player and take a couple of films....although these tend to be a back up for hangovers or chill time in the room.

If ever I'm ill in bed for the day or give myself the day off I will just spend the time watching back to back and usually trilogies like one day SW I- III the. Next day IV- VI or genre marathons like an 80s horror or a sequels marathon, can fit 4 maybe 5 if they're all 90min.

Saying that I still have about 100 sat in the wrappers waiting to be watched.....their time will come.

i used to watch far too many, probably 20 a week on average. puts you off films in the end! got this down to about 10-12 now which is still pretty high but doesn't seem excessive

tend to watch one in the morning before work as i don't leave the house till gone 9 and then one in the evening if i'm not out or doing other things

last night i watched jewel of the nile (woeful eighties sequel to romancing the stone 4/10) and this morning it was paperhouse (intriguing fantasy drama with dodgy acting 7/10)

I've been tracking my viewing for a few years. If I watch a movie twice in a year, that counts as two.

I seem to consistently watch around 160 movies per year.

2011 total = 157 movies watched.
2012 total = 160 movies watched.
2013 total = 159 movies watched
2014 currently stands at 80

According to my letterboxd account last night's double-bill of Willow Creek (DVD) and The Beast Within (Blu-ray) has got me up to 152 films so far in 2014. Last year I only managed 317 in total, but I'm shooting for 365 this time around.

I don't really keep track, but I'd estimate about 2-5 films in an average week so 104-260 films in a year.

I keep a list of every film I watch (because I'm so cool), last year I saw 130. I'm watching a lot less this year because I'm reading more.

So i guess by thus far being the winner, that makes me the biggest loser! I do read a lot too, it's not just movies lol.
