Two chains that exemplify this are Arclight and Alamo Drafthouse, and they are, sadly, not in my town. If there were an Arclight in my town, I would go to the theater once a week. Best motion picture experience I have ever had, and there used to be a 70mm theater where I live.
Surprisingly, I've had very few occasions when it's come to cell phones or excessive talking, never so bad that it would require kicking someone out. It's tall, big head people that I take issue with , cause they always find the seat right in front of this hobbit. Of course, I don't have much problem now that I go during the weekday matinee after they've been out a couple weeks. Still, I'd rather pay less, there's hardly ever anyone to kick out in those showings .

I've heard of Alamo Drafthouse, none near me but I'd certainly go at the chance to buy some of those cool posters that accompany retro movie showings.

There's a couple theaters near me that have food catered sections, so you literally have dinner and a movie at the same time. Although novel, I don't think I would like it so much because you'd be busy eating your steak dinner than watching the movie or listening to other people chew their food.

Those were nicely done, I enjoyed them. I keep being a little surprised when stuff like this reminds me just how much more popular the OT is overall. 63,580 views for the PT one vs. 807,776 for the OT one.

I was home sick today and watched Empire Strikes Back and then Return of the Jedi… Oh my, I don't remember hating Jedi as much as I did today. I guess I haven't seen it for years, but it was so over the top 'cheese'. There was an addition I guess was new to me, the musical scene in Jaba's lair right before he drops the dancer in the rancor pit. The CGI of these creatures and the ridiculous music really made me embarrassed just witnessing this crap… Empire obviously holds up.

Wow...2/10 really? You don't consider that a little harsh? I mean we all know that it's not on par with Star Wars or TESB but I would give it a 3 out of four stars or a 7 out of 10 on that scale (IMHO). As bad as it was compared to the other two it's light years better than the PT.

It took you 17 years to finally watch and notice the Jedi Rocks scene in the Special Edition of Return of the Jedi and you felt so compelled you had to run to this board and this very thread to expunge your vitriol about it?

That is MUCH better and almost acceptable to me. Although I still think it's taken from a scene in ROTS where Anakin is undressing Padme with his eyes. :P

While I can't stand that scene either, all I do is skip to the next chapter and pretend it doesn't exist. The rest of the movie I enjoy just as much as I did as a child.

Okay, almost as much.

Wow I remember this as well, man I was 13 in 77, I remember the local theater staff being surprised I was coming back 3 or 4 times to watch Star Wars, they even let me in for half price after the first time

You realize there was a long musical number in the original Jedi too? Maybe not quite as long and detailed, but it was still there. I'd take the Jedi Rocks scene over it easily, because it's actually kind of fun, adds some flavor to Jabba's Palace, and you know...there's more Fett...and that's never a bad thing.

Fett charming Jabba's backing dancers isn't what most people had in mind, though.

I hope that they eventually put out the completed Star Wars: Detours episodes at some point. That show looked so funny.

Looked totally out of place with the other effects (imo). But then I wasn't the biggest fan of Jedi to begin with. Hey maybe he should have redone the Cantina band as well in the first one? Maybe? The problem is when you pick and choose such big scene changes it never looks quite right. If it were cleaning up matte lines, getting rid of glare off glass encased snakes and hiding strings lifting up a little girl floating above a bed that's one thing. But to go any further not so great.

Hopefully I won't get suspended again by posting that when I saw Jedi Rocks for the first time I expected to see Boba Fett moonwalking across the screen in the background.

Lucafilm/Disney will be there to talk about Star Wars, but only Rebels, not Episode VII. Considering Episode VII won't be released until December 2015, I suspect it'll have a bigger presence at next year's Comic-Con.
