You know that the screencaps from this site are always badly compressed jpgs, yes?

So the blatant compression artifacts seen in those caps aren't actually on the disc, then?

Some of caps-a-holic BD captures aren't 100% convincing though, especially in the darker areas.
Still, this is a David M job so I trust him anyway.

Good to know - if that's the case, the likelihood of artifacts has just decreased!
My Blu-ray has been in the mail for the last 10 days... hoping it eventually arrives and I can see no compression issues for myself.

This is what this review grab looks like on the disc:

https://postimg.cc/142PFbSF (make sure to click "Download original image").

Blu-ray.com are absolutely right to put their disclaimer at the bottom of their frame grabs: they're there to provide a general idea of what something looks like and aren't meant to be definitive.

Interesting. On my display I can not only see a lack of compression artifacts (yay!), but also a clear difference in the grayscale gradation on some elements, most visibly in the background. The image you provided shows more "shadow detail".
Your JPG image has an sRGB profile built-in, while the blu-ray.com file has no profile, but I don't think that's the main factor here. It seems to me that either the capturing method used by blu-ray.com or the inclusion of the watermark might change the image in some aspects.

Yup, I've pretty much learned long ago to not take them to heart for what they look like. Still, they're much better screen-caps than DVDBeaver (who still can't even put most screenshots in the right color space).

Agreed. That just got my hopes up again.

Oh my goodness gracious, what a difference. Thank you! They should adopt a png-only policy regarding the UHD reviews for the sake of everyone's sanity.

I didn't know it was an M job™. Now I'll be able to pick this one up with confidence.

Oh and I think the caps-a-holic screenshots were done by someone else.

Nothing to do with profiles - their screen grabs are just more compressed, which is totally understandable for a widely-read review site with bandwidth charges to pay (and also one that correctly features a disclaimer reminding readers not to treat the illustrative grabs as a reference). On top of that, it looks like whatever JPEG encoder the server is running compresses the darker parts more, which especially affects images from a darker film like this.

PNG is honestly total overkill for screen grabs of BDs - although since it's lossless, it would of course avoid doubts like these.

I literally have no idea where my Zavvi 4K steelbook copy is in transit to me - I've already lost one product into the great abyss from Amazon, but thankfully my Frozen II 3D disc arrived safely via DHL to Washington DC yesterday.

Interview with the restoration team in the April issue of TVB Europe (page 41)

Watched the UHD tonight and thought it looked glorious.
