I have around a 1000 blu-rays (not updated in my collection on this site as I could not figure out how to do it quickly....one by one was taking too much time) and at least 500 are sealed....I don't know why I have this compulsion to buy them, steelbooks, digibooks, slip covers....the whole lot....especially if there is a good deal available....but there is such a huge backlog to watch, I have stopped opening the new ones unless I have to watch it that day. And just to clarify, they are not sealed to preserve resale value, though sometimes if I make a blind buy and it is coming up on HBO soon, I keep it sealed, watch it on TV, and decide whether to keep it or return to store/sell on eBay.

Unseal those bad boys and start watching them! No excuse for this. No excuse.

I usually open them and watch within 24 hours but right now, my copy of The Goonies and....City Slickers are sealed.

Yes. If I haven't watched it yet, it's sealed.

Firstly, if a disc is defective you cannot return it for replacement months later; and unfortunately I find defective BD's often enough. I therefore open and inspect them on purchase. Secondly I buy discs to watch, not hoard, and usually watch them soon after I buy them.
