Weird, i had this in hand in HMV last week and didnt even notice that it was DVD sized, my attention to detail must have gone downhill with age!

hmv ship from channels islands so vat not applied - if order is under £18, hence the price.

Someone pointed out elsewhere the following:

Quote:
For UK customers the prices payable for goods are as set out in the web site inclusive of VAT and any duties and local taxes where applicable. If goods are dispatched from Guernsey to a shipping address in the UK, HMV will collect UK import VAT from you on behalf of the consignee where necessary. Consignments sent from Guernsey to the UK of a value of £18 or under are relieved from import VAT under current legislation.
Quote:
For customers ordering for delivery from Guernsey to a country other than the UK the prices payable for goods are exclusive of VAT and local taxes and the customer is responsible for payment of any local taxes payable including VAT, and will be required to pay extra for delivery and clearance where necessary.
So for orders made in the UK, VAT is included, for orders outside the UK, prices are exclusive of VAT...no discount of VAT value, all into HMV's coffers

no, I think the key part is inclusive of vat to uk where applicable, ie where item is over 18 pounds - that's our import duty free limit. I ordered this in uk for 17.99 and hmv have not paid Vat, but for my copy of avatar - 24.99, they would have paid vat on whole amount.

The £18 duty free limit is for importing from outside of the EU, Guernsey is part of the EU, so that limit doesnt apply, but as part of the UK, VAT will be included into the price

You are mixing up VAT, and import duty

Trust me I am not, the channel islands are not in the EU and do not have same tax system as uk, from wikipedia:

Together with the bailiwick of Guernsey, it forms the grouping known as the Channel Islands. Like the Isle of Man, Jersey is a separate possession of the Crown and is not part of the United Kingdom. Jersey has an international identity different from that of the UK

Its a tax wizz; hmv, tesco, hut, play etc ship from the channel islands and if the items are under £18 then they are no liable for import duty OR VAT. If its over £18 they have to pay the duty and VAT or each customer will be hit by the taxes and courier fees. This means the import limit is linked to the prices they charge and explains why all new releases in the UK start at 17.99. I for one hope we don't increase our low import limit

So HMV do not discount you guys VAT (on items under £18) because its not included in the price.

So, does it include the magnets now?
I remember when I ordered mine the magnets were not included and I got a free Hellboy II Blu-ray.

I received my copy today from Amazon UK and I am a bit disappointed.

All this stuff is missing:

- Set of magnetic decals including: Designs, wheels, trims, blank number plates, letters and numbers to create personal number plates

I did send them an Email asking what to do and I am pretty sure they will tell me to return it. Not sure what to do, as 24€ for 4 movies and BD's is still an acceptable price. However without pimping the Steel, it looks just as a brushed silver metal Steel without anything on. So not really amazing
