I tried renting that from Netflix once; I absolutely could not get into it at all, and turned it off after twenty minutes or so. Too cheesy for me I guess.

Borrowed “Glory” from the Library; I remember seeing it once in high school, but forgot about most of it. Watching it these days, I found it pretty decent. The characters are quite strong, and the story was quite engaging (though I’m not sure how historically accurate it all is; I heard some parts are not). Production design looked a little cheap in some areas, but the movie still had some strong visuals and strong performances. The music is brilliant too. It’s one of the better Civil War movies I know of (heck, I don’t really know of many Civil War movies to start with, aside from this one and “Gone With the Wind;” anybody got any suggestions?). It’s a 4/5.
Also got to watch “The Jerk” for the first time ever. They just don’t make comedies like these anymore; the movie has loads of hilarious lines and dialogue, and a lot of funny situations. Story and characters are pretty decent. The movie is well-made. I’d give it a 4/5, and will try to get a copy someday (I thought it came out on Blu-Ray already, but I guess not?). Funny People 8.75/10
I'd have to say this is Apatow's best or very close with 40 Year Old Virgin. I'm one who didn't like Knocked Up so much, probably because of Katherine Heigl (can't stand her). Another excellent movie showcasing Sandler's acting abilities. Not as great of a performance as Punch Drunk Love, but still great nonetheless. I just felt the movie was very honest. It didn't pull strings to make the movie come off as predictable or cheesy. A very mature movie. I hope to see more of Sandler in roles like this. Seth Rogen was also really good and Jonah Hill was finally a bit toned down in this, which I like. I hated him in Superbad and didn't like Superbad either. Plus, the cameos were great. Eminem yelling at Ray Ramano was pretty dam funny. |

Ordinary People 8/10
A good movie following a family dealing with the loss of their oldest son. It mainly follows the younger brother as he is dealing with his oldest brothers loss the hardest since he felt it was his fault. Top notch acting all around. Mary Tyler Moore's character reminded me of Louise Fletcher's character in One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest. A movie that is good for a first watch, but that's about it. |

Commando
Still love this cheesy action flick, sound was good PQ wasn't bad either except for some serious EE when they were flying the plane. Movie: 6/10 PQ: 6/10 AQ: 7/10 Funny People Heard so many mixed reviews and finally checked it out. I enjoyed it for what it was, drama with some comedy. It was too long though, watched the longer Unrated cut and I image even the theatrical would have been too long. Great PQ and AQ on the blu though and Adam Sandler was great! Movie: 8/10 PQ: 8/10 AQ: 8/10 |

Rented "Gamer" today, and expected it to stink royally. It does have its flaws; the photography is very wild and frantic in many scenes, almost too much for me. The dialogue is kinda bad in some spots, the bad guy is very cheesy, and the movie overall feels like it jumps around between several different viewpoints very often. Regardless, I was able to follow it to its conclusion (which I actually think is a very weak conclusion;
[Show spoiler] ). Despite everything, I found myself enjoying it about as much as "The Running Man," "Rollerball," or "Death Race" (though I wouldn't consider "Gamer" any better than any of those). Above all, I was impressed by all the different ideas the movie presented concerning virtual gaming, nano-technology, and society in general. I'd give it a 3/5, but will probably buy a copy later on.

Requiem For A Dream: 7/10
I've heard a lot about this film (from friends and online reviews) about how depressing yet awesome it, with the ending being a terrifying one in a real world context. Yet as the film finished I couldn't help but being a tad disapointed. It wasn't a bad film (quite the opposite - rather enjoyed it) but all the comments I'd heard left me expecting something really shocking. It was a bit sad to see the character's just keep on falling and falling - but no more than that. Maybe if it wasn't as hyped up as much and I wasn't expecting more I would have been a bit more satisifed. One aspect of the film that really shone through was the high quality of acting throughout - with no questions as to who the standout character was. Ellen Burstyn put in a superb performance which should have nailed the Oscar. The scene where she explains to Harry about getting old and the signifiance of the red dress was actinb brilliance of her part. I'll end by saying that as much as I enjoyed the film I kind of felt like everyone else who watched it may have seen sometihng in it I didn't. Would still recommed it though, hence the 7/10. |

The Hangover
After all the yelling and screaming and the nonstop annoyance of people going on about how this is 'the funniest movie ever,' I borrowed it from a buddy and I gotta say, it was good. Not all out hilarious but it had some funny parts. The story went smoothly and I enjoyed all the characters. But I've seen funnier movies in the last couple years let alone the last ten. A solid comedy with some of the better comedic actors out there. 7.7/10 |

I just watched this, as well, and thought it was brilliant, original and thought-provoking - it has action, heart and a message. I admit that I was a little bit weary about it for the first twenty minutes or so, but, around that point, the movie then grips you and doesn't let go - you really feel the tension this movie gives off. I highly recommend it and will probably buy it on BD. Does anyone think there will be a sequel to this?
