Default Rack changes

OUT
Marantz SR6003, A/V Receiver
OPPO DV-983H, Universal DVD Player
SONY BDP-S360, Blu-ray Player
Acoustic Research ARHD41, 4-Way HDMI Switcher
Raxxess iRDS-1, iPod docking station( with Apple Universal Dock )
CyberPower PR1000LCDRTXL2U, uninterruptible power supply

IN
Pioneer Elite SC-63, A/V Receiver
OPPO BDP-103, Universal Blu-ray Player
Furman F1000-UPS, uninterruptible power supply

I made the AVR switch, because I've always wanted to try out the Pioneer product. Powerful cool running Pioneer D3 amplification, clean symmetrical aesthetics( like the Marantz ) & heavy 2012 model price discounts, made switching easier. The increase in HDMI inputs( 7 vs. 3 ) & better iPod/iPhone/iPad integration, allowed me to retire the HDMI switcher & iPod dock. I've been contemplating a consolidation of disc players, since 2010( see post #20 ). With the evolution of Blu-ray players over the last few years, it no longer made sense to have separate DVD/CD & Blu-ray playback. Better/faster performance & better build quality( much, much better than the OPPO DV-983H & SONY BDP-S360 ), makes me glad I finally made the switch. I switched to the Furman UPS, because it's non-sacrificial & blends better in the rack.

A couple of other minor changes include, a new custom rack shelf faceplate for my DVHS deck( recessing it into the rack, for a cleaner look ) & mounting the digital temperature display to the front top of the rack enclosure. 4U spaces were gained from all the above changes, freeing up room for something new( PS4, Xbox One, etc... ).

While the Pioneer is taller( 4U vs. 3U ) & deeper than the Marantz, they approximately weigh the same( the Marantz is more densely packed ).
The Pioneer is minus Multi Ch inputs, S-video inputs/outputs, 1 toslink input/output & 1 component video input/output.

The digital temperature display will be mounted to the rack enclosure, just above the receiver( where the silver outlined rectangle is, I'll have to Dremel an opening first ).

LOL!
Currently in storage.
The Marantz is a keeper, will make an excellent emergency back-up AVR.
I'll have to start getting rid of the players eventually, because I doubt I'll ever use them again
[Show spoiler]( I have a SONY BDP-S350, SONY BDP-S360 & OPPO DV-983H, plus custom rack shelves for each. )

You know what I totally understand. I'm not a person who likes to sell my stuff. If you remember when you were over I still had that HTiB in the back storage.

It might goto a family or friend before being sold.

Nice score on the new gear, Zips. It's looking good holding court in your rack.

Didn't know that you and the Hampman are HT neighbors.

Not close neighbors... He lives in Ohio, and he has family further north of me in Michigan. I live right off the freeway, and en route when he visit his family.

Ditto. Someone will eventually call, saying their DVD/Blu-ray player died..., then there's always the ol' donate & get the tax write-off.

Thanks Billy! I won't know for at least another couple of weeks, while I finish things( remove everything to cut a port for temp display & a total rewire, etc... ). In the meantime, I'll just have to use the living room system. I did hear a similar Pioneer model, in a friends system( it replaced an Emotiva XPA-5, to good results ). I really think Pioneer is onto something great with their current crop of receivers( 2011, 2012 & 2013 models ), using their D3 amps & MCACC.

LOL! Pure coincidence. The SC-63 was their lowest model I would consider( the models below it used plastic faceplates as opposed to brushed anodized aluminum.

Mighty kind of you sir!
When Hamp rebuilt his system, I had to stop by & hear it( especially the dual SVS subs ). I ended up enjoying his 65" Plasma TV so much, it inspired me to get one.

It seems I missed quite a bit of upgrades ........
