Sam Bishop from IGN

Quote:
3D has literally jacked the engine into overdrive. You have nothing to worry about on the framerate front if you're playing in 2D; even in the game's year-out unoptimized state, the 2D version would regularly swing above 30 and into damn near 60 territory when playing it a few weeks back.

If anything, 3D is actually benefiting you 2D-only folks by forcing the engines to spit out more frames and thus giving you a smoother game without the fancy pants TV. As for whether or not the game will be locked at 30, that's something Guerrilla says they're debating, but you're getting a vastly improved engine even with all the increased detail. Dancin' time.

I'm not sure that Gamersyde download's any better quality than the Killzone.com download.

Digital Foundry is analysing the E3 trailer and they think Killzone 3 has MLAA!! This will be a huge improvement over QAA they employed last time

Got hold of a HUGE version of the Killzone 3 trailer (59.94fps - yes!). Definitely in-game and seems to have MLAA.

Well, sounds awesome then, thanks!

KZ2 was an okay game, it had potential but never really delivered, hope the third is epic.

Newbie question but... What's the difference between QAA and MLAA?

QAA tends to not only smooth out edges, but blur the entire picture, making appear to be lower resolution.

MLAA uses colour changes (I believe) to figure out where edges are in the picture and smooths those edges. It can provide up to the equivalent of 16x normal AA. It gives quite a clean look to the image. It does have some issues with subpixel size lines though.

All I can say is that this teaser alone looks amazing. I just loved KZ2 and still need to earn the Platnum for it. Good thing I got the online trophies out of the way when I first got the game. I just need to beat it on Super Hard mode and finish the game without dying. Can't wait for jetpacks!!!!!
