i really do want to get this... im not big on steel books, only cause im wayyy to ocd, but this release seems like a perfect steel book worthy edition (i almost got the kill bill canada steel books, but didnt)... i dont even have a multiregion player yet... but hey, i feel secure in at least knoing that i have the film, ya know... i just ordered my first import dvd, the uk mulholland dr.. i will order the german lh as soon as its released, so if anyone is interested in a group buy... i dunno, i do want this, and i have a feeling that if i dont get it now, how knows wen ill come across a nother decently priced one... my damn sniper failed to snipe, i woulda got one on ebay for like thirty bucks... thers one on amazon thatll ship to me, but im not sure if i can justify 50 dollars... im in such a toss up... this wasnt even my favorite movie by far... and wen i first saw death proof, i thought it was absouloute crap... i have learned to appreciated it... but it dose have parts that make me cringe... maybe a lil too campy or cheesy.. the chase sequence is awesome tho... but to be able to watch them both, with full hd sound... i dunno.. also, thers this... (i still live at home, bleh) so, in my room, i have a decent setup, with a lower end 720p emerson 32inch, with my ps3... so dvds upconverted, only look a tad better... but downstairs, in the living room we have the 46inch bravia... dvds look amazing on this screen(but the fam is almost always in there)... so since i already have the individual dvd releases of these titles, im not to sure... but i have been replacing a few select titles i already have on dvd... sorry for the jumbled mess!!

Matt - with a system like that how are you going to benefit from the HD sound? The packaging has me drooling and all that but if you can't afford it then it's really just a luxury item. Why not sell or trade in (Blockbuster?) your DVD versions and get the domestic Grindhouse? It'll end up costing you about $10.

yes, in my room, my system is mediocre... i really am able to enjoy it downstairs, sound wise we have a 7.1 onkyo system... i think it was sold as a set but it was like $800... so why would i want the movie.. well, i did want a hd copy of it... its slightly better then the us version, it has a different cover, which appeals to my collective nature.. lol, but since its an import, and there are more steel book collectors, the option to pick this up may not always be around... plus theres always room to upgrade ones system... like i said, i just ordered the uk mulholland dr, which i wont be able to watch for a lil bit, but i dont care.. that is one of my fave movies, period... is it true that the german grindhouse isnt even TRUE lossless, its still compressed, but slightly better quality? thanks again everyone!! : P

i may end up just getting the domestic release... i hate buying from blockbuster...rediculously over priced, plus, they sell their used movies in rental cases... we have family video's out here... lol, i wont hesitate to buy a used dvd or blu from there... only thing is they dont always include the extra discs.. so it depends... i usually stick to amazon or ebay for my films, otherwise..

but i wil admit to cutting corners with my setup.. like i said, i still live at home.. so as far as my bedroom as concerned, i have an awesome setup... and my fam spends most of the time in the livin room.. but wen i do upgrade my system, ill already have a decent collection.

Just watched both of these back to back with trailers and all. Such a fun and unique experience. Definitely advice anyone who hasn't seen these yet to check them out (only if you have a sense of humour and understand the idea behind what they were trying to accomplish )

Noticed no one here seems to have mentioned that the menus are infact German and different to the UK and US release menus (better in my opinion). Shouldn't be a deal breaker for anyone as they are easy to navigate and understand, but its worth mentioning nontheless.

I had to wake up this thread lol. I ordered a Steelbook from a U.S. seller and hope to have it this week. I originally passed when it was first released because I didn't have a region free at the time. I got a steel for about $67.00 and it was noted as being mint so excited to get it mainly for the DTS HD 5.1 tracks.
