Done! I'm really hoping the rumours about Criterion picking TOL up are true. I'm happy to double dip on the Fox release (which I'm sure will be bare bones) and I think I will triple dip and get the French Collectors Edition as well

Credit where credit is due. Props to you, sir.

I'm really looking forward to this release. I hope the transfer is as good as the Thin Red Line.

I don't get it. I know that a direct link to AMAZON has been posted here, and it states that the release date is October 11. But if a do a general search in that same store, the results related to the movie, both DVD and BD, offers "no released date" and the usual "sign up to be notified". Is that Oct 11 date for real?

Hell yeah. The Thin Red Line had such a beautiful transfer. It had more depth to the image than many 3D movies nowadays. The Tree of Life hopefully looks great, too.

Amazon just have two entries in their system for it, one with no release date and one with Oct 11th. The Oct 11th one is new, Amazon only added it recently. And you can actually pre-order it, so unless Fox delays it, it will be out Oct 11th

I saw this movie for the first time and I enjoyed it, though I didn't quite know what to think of the meaning behind it. I thought about it for days. I knew it was about the beautiful and unattractive parts of life but I just didn't catch all the subtle details.

The next weekend I convinced my open minded friend to go to the theater under the influence of a green substance. We got into the theater and noticed that the theater was primarily full of elderly people (we are 19) so we felt kind of paranoid about that. "DUDE WHY IS EVERYONE HERE LIKE 80?" (lol)

Anyways, the movie started and right off the bat I started picking up things I didn't catch before. Though, I'm not going to go into the entire meaning of this movie. It really is amazing how much more I insightful I became with my little green friend aiding my more 'deep thinking' abilities.

I left the movie much more satisfied than the first time I watched it, as I completely understood the meaning behind the movie. My friend really enjoyed the movie as well. We had a very deep conversation on the way home regarding our takes on the movie.

I keep thinking about how amazing I think this film will look and sound on Blu-ray. The imagery and scenes are so beautifully done. I cannot wait to buy this film and really give my TV and speakers a run for their money. Hopefully this film will get the release it deserves, though I'm confident it will.

I'll certainly rent this one, since no theater in my area showed it.

I've got all the Blus for Malick's films so far (I'm just hoping the rumors that Criterion picked up Badlands is true, since we know that will get a Blu as a result). While it's certainly not a guarantee, if the Fox release ends up being barebones, I will probably hold off for a double dip (especially with, again, Criterion rumors running rampant). If it ends up having a good deal of extra content (like Fox's release of Fantastic Mr. Fox, which was done by another Criterion "darling", for lack of a better term), it seems like Criterion's release would be less likely.

That's all assuming I end up liking the film enough to own, of course.

I'm sorry, but there aren't enough facepalm pics on the Internet for that comment.

Looked great but never opened here. I'll rent it for sure. Hopefully the price goes down. That's way too much to pay for a movie. Also, they don't have a DVD listed on Amazon. Wondering if this Blu-ray/DVD combo will be the only option, like Sony Pictures Classics has been doing lately.

Hopefully the price drops - but I'm not going to pretend to debate getting this. Price is pretty much a non issue for me on this one.

I'm sure if this were a Criterion release, people would be excited about the price.
