The episode this week was just ok. I've heard next week will be better.

It's interesting for Torchwood to portray the apathy that exists even in the face of governments doing wrong. They leak the incinerators, and the world collectively shrugs.

I've given up what was a good british series has bee turned into a mediocre U.S one and I'd rather catch up on Breaking Bad & Mad Men. With Sons, Dexter, Boardwalk & Walking Dead being back soon why would I waste my time with this rubbish?

I'm going to be the mean one here and say Season one is Ok, but it was too obsessed with it's adult sensibilities (it's a Doctor Who spin-off from that shows second series within it's revival), it's like SEX, BLOOD, GORE, SEX, BLOOD, GORE, GAY SEX, GORE, SWEARING SWEARING AND MORE SWEARING!!!, after that it calms down and gets more sensible, but it still remains more adult without the use of showing taboo's.

Well I don't think you are mean here , you just have an opinion, like everybody else. Nothing wrong with that.

The second and third series are certainly far better than the first, but I don't think they were over-reliant on being adult. I still wouldn't mind seeing James Marsters again (S2).

I agree with you, Fogs. Season one really was very hit and miss because it was trying so hard to be adult...But season two is pretty consistently good, especially with the Owen storyline, and Season three is one of the greatest sci-fi stories I've ever seen. It's so good! I'm really enjoying Miracle Day as well. Not as much as Children of Earth, but better than season one and two.

I'm glad we're getting somewhere, but when I saw "He always lies", I was hoping for Captain John even though I knew from the episode structure who it had to be.

I felt like the episode offered an opportunity to do a one-off Torchwood style case (in Jack's flashbacks) while adhering to the story arc. I think if they did more of that, the season would be less uneven.

I agree, the one fundamental flaw with that episode was that the entire episode was setting up a twist which previously didn't have any effect beforehand, was ruined the surprise

Also felt that the Doctor Who reference was crowbared in there, although it's nice of the show to keep to it's roots

I'll take the Doctor Who reference, because at times I think Torchwood actually forgets its still part of that universe. It may be darker, but it's still part of the family.

I've really enjoyed the season overall, and I'm glad to see we're finally winding down for answers. It seems like there is a too much to do over the last two hours though...I hope I"m wrong. Really hoping we get a great ending, but it'll be hard to top Children of Earth...That may be one of the most brilliant season finales ever.

I hate to say it... but... we didn't need 10 episodes to build to this finale.

The last couple of episodes stepped things up... but the first 8 were slow and meandering... and honestly, while some of the meandering was interesting most of it proved to be inconsequential to the endgame.

I would have to re-watch to be sure... but I'm inclined to think that you could watch the first 2 and the last 2 episodes and not feel like you missed a whole lot... which says to me that there was a lot of unnecessary padding here.

Also, the grand finale came out of thin air... including not actually showing you something very important except in flashback form... I was disappointed in how the solution was executed.

They kinda spoiled the ending with a "coming next week" promo they aired last week of a scene that apparently was deleted from the airing of tonight's episode:

[Show spoiler]Last week... when they aired the "next time on Torchwood..." segment, there was a scene where Rex was in a clean suit and was saying that Jack's blood had healed him... so even though that scene didn't make the final cut for tonight's episode, I unfortunately saw that ending coming a mile away.

The only plus I see to doing this... though it makes no sense given the explanation of how Jack got that way in Doctor Who...

Jack now becomes expendable. We always figured he would never die, and I grant you that I would care less for Torchwood without Jack... but now they either could kill him as a surprise move OR they can have a plot where they kill the unkillable Rex who apparently will be like him now.

I honestly really enjoyed Miracle Day from beginning to end. It wasn't as good as Children of Earth, but it was still really well done. I didn't mind that it took it's time, because it gave us lots of character moments and what not, which was really, really welcome. I always liked that Torchwood was about the characters, so I'm glad they kept to that. I just really enjoyed the whole season overall, and welcome a fifth season with open arms. I want it to keep going. Or at least give us a real, definitive end to the show, because Miracle Day's ending was more of a stepping stone for a bigger story that's on the horizon. Just my two cents.

I loved Miracle Day and thought the ending was awesome. I just hope that if we do get a season 5 it has nothing to do with Miracle Day or the families as I just want a new mystery for the Torchwood team to try and tackle and not just stopping plan B of the families.

On Rex being immortal we don't know if it's forever like Jack or just until Jack's blood leave's Rex's body and get's replaced with Rex's own blood again.

I would love to see an unrelated series 5. I would love to see a series 5 that has a season arc, but individual episodes that might each have hints to build that arc.

I don't mind seeing plan B, but I'd love to have it be back-burnered until series 6 or 7. This wouldn't prohibit guest appearances by people like Lauren Ambrose to keep the Family on the minds of Torchwood.

I'm pretty certain it was established that both Jack and Rex were fully drained to reset the miracle.

I will say the the visual representation and explanation of the Blessing were pretty underwhelming for me. It's not a deal breaker for me, as I think the ideas they explored as a result of the blessing/miracle were more important than the function of the miracle itself.

Sometimes it's very difficult to land an ending or explanation, especially when you are dealing with larger ideas (see LOST).

I do wish Rex had been in Children of Earth and Ianto had been in Miracle Day, however :>
