I actually never saw the red/blue version on Blu, since that was a limited edition and Netflix didn't have it; I tried using those prismatic Crayola glasses, and they actually worked for many of the scenes, like the floating stones-- Got a good idea of how Journey 1 looked in 3-D; I'm almost tempted to go back and watch the converted real thing. ![]() But pretty much for the same reason I'm saving Journey 2 for disk. |

The 3D will look even better at home I'd guess. This inspires me to get Journey 1 a bit more now. |

I just got home from seeing Journey 2. I liked the popped out 3D they used. I know some don't like it since it's a throw back to old school 3D, but I found myself enjoying it quite a bit. Luckily, I finally found Journey 1 around here and will be picking it up when I have the time. The original release was fun, so I'm sure the new 3D release will be a demo worthy experience.
[Show spoiler] They had trailers for Wrath of The Titans and The Hobbit in 3D attached to J2. I have to say seeing Gandalf in 3D was glorious. |

Did you like Journey 1 or 2 better? I didn't see 1 yet. For the weekend, a nice box office for the movies "off season". JOURNEY 2 3D: Opening Weekend Domestic: $27,335,363 26.8% + Foreign: $74,700,000 73.2% = Worldwide: $102,035,363 |

Hopefully the bigger opening weekend, that smashed box office tracking means we wont have to wait another five years to see
"Journey From The Earth To the Moon 3D" And hopefully they will time it right so that Brendan Can return for the sequel as well. I also have to recomend if you have access to a theatre playing it in D-Box you should definately check on Journey 2 mysterious Island 3D in D-Box as well. It has some great sequences that are made even cooler with the addition of D-Box |

If a second sequel is made, I hope the originals return in some form. |

Thanks for the comparisons.
Journey 2 had a constant pace and decent action, though it could easily be compared to "Honey I Shrunk the Kids", with all of the large creatures. The end credits sequence was pretty good in 3D. I wonder if Journey 1 had more action. I remember seeing a shot of a T Rex. Bredan Fraser would be good in Journey 3, agreed. The Rock was good here even so. |

It was entertaining. I liked the references to the other books like GULLIVER'S TRAVELS and TREASURE ISLAND. The 3D looked good, but I would like to have seen more pop-out effects (stay for the end credits for some good shots). I particularly liked the underwater sequence with the NAUTILUS. Since I am a big fan of Harryhausen's 1961 version of the book, I missed some of the creatures from that film (the giant crab was always a favorite). In this version, I thought the giant bird scene went on a bit long and could have been replaced with something else. All-in-all though, it was enjoyable, especially since I had a free ticket that I got from buying Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D on 3D Blu Ray. By the way, we only saw a couple of 3D trailers, including Madagascar 3 and The Hobbit, Part I. I thought we would get Wrath of the Titans since it's a Warner Brothers title, but no such luck. I have seen the 2D trailer for it but not the 3D version. By the way, the Warner Brothers logo in Journey 2 was one of the best 3D effects. At least it shows the studio put some effort into it. And I almost forgot, there is a Daffy Duck/Elmer Fudd short at before the film. It was OK, but very short and somewhat repetitive. Also, it was really odd seeing those characters in 3D--Daffy's feathers looked like fur, and Elmer's bald head was very shiny and plastic looking---prefer the regular 2D of these characters, but I do like having the cartoons before the film--reminds me of my youth.

That would be a good idea, but then they'd lose some money and have to pay a group to process all of the trade ins of the anaglyph red/cyan version. They rather have fans of the movie buy 2 different 3D options.
Journey 1 I finally saw in Best Buy, at 42.99$. That is a ridiculous price to pay for any single movie IMO. Then again, video games charge 59.99$, but those are interactive and have always been in that higher price range. No wonder video games make more than the movie industry. They can sell a lot less and still make money. When Journey 1 3D is 24.99$, I'll buy it. |

I think I'm going to see Journey 2 this week, it just looks like so much fun, and it's uber-rare for me to go to the cinema now that I have my own 3D setup.
