I am not pleased to hear that because the 2nd season blu-rays are showing up at my house tomorrow.

Could you run that "solution" by me again. So you're saying if I want to play episode 1 (which screwed up) that I should put in disc 2, choose episode 1, and then put that disc in?

I'm having a really hard time believing that Sony could let this go for so long. I knew I should have gotten the Panasonic player to match the TV.

You've got it right. Load the Disc 2 menus, select the episode you want to watch from Disc 1 and wait for it to prompt you to change the disc. I don't know if there are problems with the menus on discs 3 and up yet, or not. I also haven't seen anyone else complaining that they're having difficulties, but I doubt I'm the only one...

Well, you weren't wrong. It stopped 28 minutes into the first episode. I did your trick and it worked....until the 44th minute.

The DVD played fine through the first two episodes of season 2. It also just generally looks better than the blu-ray. The quality isn't as fine, but I've noticed that when the blu-ray is working there are noticeable vertical black lines in some scenes.

Exclamation Samsung vs Sony BluRay player

I have both season 1 & 2 Game of Thrones on BluRay and when I played them in a Samsung BluRay player I couldn't even get past 3 minutes before skipping, no audio, picture freeze. I went out and bought a Sony BDP-S790 BluRay player and have not had any issues playing either season. The verdict: Samsung bluRay players suck!

No problem with loading and playing disc 1 on my Pioneer BDP-320, but just tried loading it in my PC with an LG blu-ray writer and PowerDVD 9 and it will not play. Just keeps recycling through a prompt about needed a software upgrade, says it completed the upgrade, then fails with the same message again.

I had the same exact situation, I can't recall all the details because frankly I didn't look too deeply into it once I realized it was hopeless, but it's the LG Blu-ray writer that is the issue. I just ended up replacing mine with another model/brand (it was old anyway).

It has something to do with AACS and profiles and such...once you've put in a disc with a certain profile (for me it was GoT S3), it basically locks out discs, even from playback. Some older discs will play, many won't - it basically just bricks the thing from reliable Blu-ray playback though you can still burn Blu-ray (data or video) just fine from existing files.

If you google with your model number I'm sure you'll find out more about it, but the only solutions I was able to find were way too manual/complex and the essential message I got was it was just too much of a PITA to bother with and it was time to get a new burner.

I don't think that is my issue. Even Season 3 of GOT plays fine on my LG writer, only Season 4 does not work. Tried several other recent blu-rays, and all play just fine. Only GOT4 has this issue.

I've been having issues where the background sound overtakes everything else on the Season 4 blus. Anyone else having this issue?

Default Game of Throne Season 4 Blu Ray

Just watched the first 8 episodes (having to remove and clean the discs several times before they would play and having to pause and start to resynch the sound) the the disc with the last two episodes would not play no matter what I did. So after over twenty tries and putting other blu rays in to make sure it wasn't my player...i was so pissed i threw the whole collection away. Had similar problems with the other seasons...none this bad.

I, too, own a Pioneer bdp 320. Disc 1, season 2, of GAoT played fine. However, when I try to play disc 2-3, season 2 I get an "unplayable disc" error. I have tried inserting disc 2 after playing disc one and my firm ware is completely up to date, but no luck. Did your player have any issues with the season 2 blu rays?

When trying to play disc 1 and 2 for season 4, it seemed to take anywhere from 5-10 minutes waiting for the disc to load, and when it finally got to the main menu, it worked perfectly. The rest of the discs loaded just fine, though.

Not to thread-necromance But I just had this problem when revisiting Season 1 in anticipation of the new season coming out to DB. I can't remember which episode it was, but it was where John Snow had just started training at Castle Black. It skipped 6-8 minutes worth of the episode. This was a disc from the original, unedited Season 1 release. I happen to have the DE SteelBook version for season 1, so I tried that disc, and it worked perfectly fine. Sounds like a disc and not a player issue
