Does the new set include the 3D version of part 3?

I would LOVE to have the full set but simply refuse to pay more than $150. These were simply not “quality” movies to begin with and though the blu-rays offer a better picture it’s not a huge difference. The first few films’ budgets were less than what people are asking on Blu-ray! I rarely buy anything other than 3D or 4K blu-ray except for specific movies that dear to my heart. Streaming is usually close enough to blu-ray quality for me and doesn’t take up storage space!

I DO find it odd... Why not just include ALL of the films. I suppose it has something to do with the New Line v Paramount licensing crap. Of course, I wonder why they made the original set so limited to begin with. Wouldn’t they want to sell as many copies as possible?
All the videos are not included because of licensing crap. The original was not limited. There were tons when it was out. I don't remember what it cost but, no one wanted to pay the original price. Everyone wanted to wait it out for a big drop which never came and then when it went out of print and people tried to get it later, it was commanding big $$$.

The sad thing is how many times I will still watch the anaglyph version over the 2-D, just to have some of the cool 3-D effects that do work.

If Paramount was smart, they would start a crowd-funded campaign to raise enough money to justify pressing the correct 3-D version. That way, they could cover their ass enough to at least break even and, more than likely, make a nice profit.

When it was shown last year in 35mm at the Quad in NY (on Friday the 13th) it sold out and another show was added in addition to another screening the following Tuesday. I don'i know how the Minneapolis screening went but the Philadelphia screening (through Exhumed Films and Harry Guerro also responsible for NY and Minneapolis) had a full house. I anticipate another full house for a screening this year planned for Long Island so demand is there!

Greedy corporations want to make sure they get every crumb owed to them from their piece of the pie but then decide to halt production when they easily could have sold thousands more!

If Paramount is allowing Kino to release some of their 3D titles, why is it seemingly impossible for Friday the 13th Part 3 to be aquired and released as such? Honest question.

Kino only has access to titles from Paramount that have not been released on DVD or Blu-ray.

I believe Kino/Paramount deal mainly included titles that had not yet been released on DVD. Kino would have still have to purchase the more expensive rights to Friday the 13th Part III, if it is even available. For a while, Warner Bros. had it. I don't know about now.

So far as I was told, the rights are not available for sub-licensing. Paramount would have to release it themselves on 3-D Blu-ray.

After dropping the ball when the Wayne Estate offered HONDO in 3-D back in 2012, I'm not optimistic.

Thanks for the answers, guys. I appreciate it. I truly do hope that some entity, somewhere, will try to release this title properly one day (in our lifetime.) Perhaps during the second wave of home 3D we will finally get it (when “glasses free” 3D TV becomes a thing.)

IMHO it will never happen. Inferior 3D without glasses, who is going to buy that?

I wanted to give my 2 cents but you read my mind lol. It will be great for depth no doubt but I want to see pop outs! Hard to do as good without the glasses I believe.

The disc is labeled "Friday the 13th Part 3 3D" but I'm assuming this requires red/blue glasses? It doesn't have the 3D blu ray logo on the disc anywhere.

edit: the back of the case says anaglyph glasses not included. so its the same old disc

The day this actually happens (if ever) I guarantee a new thread will be open just like when jaws 3 3D was finally announced.

Agreed. The holy grail for me and the one release ill order the second the news would drop. I saw this in the theaters in the fall in NYC and the theater was packed and loving it, it boggles my mind that this just has not been released.

Possibly common knowledge, but the disc of this in that new cheapie 8 movie set has NO special features, they were taken off along with the 3D version apparently. Frustrating for those of us that like such things and didn't get the original set.
