Bond is possibly the best franchise but it hasn't been the same since midway through the Brosnan run. We'll see how the Star Trek franchise handles having Abrams leave to do rival Star Wars.

Yep. Which is why they would have to just start from scratch and make it completely different.

I think this is the best comment so far in this thread.

But honestly, that's what fans want: more of the same. No gimmicks (ie Jason on a boat, Jason possessing other people, Jason in space, found footage, etc), just Jason carving up sexy guys and gals in a wooded setting.

They got that in 2009 and it was polarizing to say the least.

Eh, in my opinion the 2009 Friday the 13th is mediocre at best. It has its moments, but it's mostly just a boring rehash. And the fact that it takes itself SO seriously really doesn't do it for me. I would much rather watch the more fun films in the series, but that's just me.

And I really don't find any of the kills to be that memorable. The screwdriver through the neck sure looked like it hurt, but other than that, they did it a lot better in the 80's. Case in point: The Final Chapter. Best kills in the entire series.

I hated the last Friday The 13th but I think found footage will prove to be a good refresher for us wanting to see our favorite goalie, key is I dont want to see the entire series go that way but its a nice change of pace

They are really making it where I don't want to see this movie. Can they just give us like the last one but make it during winter and more scary? All I know is if they don't have Jason in it or if they make this a lost footage movie like ive been hearing I wont go see this I hate lost footage movies that why I wont watch any of the Paranormal Activity. I don't want to see a movie that was shot with a home video camera if I want that I can stay at home and film my own shit and if they wanted to have Jasons mom in the movie they should have used her with the first one not a sequel so they can call it Friday The 13th:The Beginning. if they are going to go backwards instead of going forward they should just leave it alone

Enough with this crap already - they are never going to top what has already been put on film for Friday the 13th.

Hollywood needs to stop with these remakes, reboots and rehashes already and seek out some real talent like they did back in the day when people knew how to write and produce an original script. There is a reason people keep going back to the originals - they cannot be replaced.

Has almost everything been done already? Probably. But the talent lies in making an idea seem fresh and brand new, like it had never been done before, even if has. The found footage angle didn't work for the Halloween franchise and I don't think it is going to work for this either, especially with Jason missing in action.
