I have mine setup so that it should have downloaded automatically but for some reason it didn't. After I turned it on and logged in, it just told me I needed to update the system and that the update was added to my download list. Maybe the downloads for updates are staggered or something so that not everyone is trying to automatically update at the same maybe?

Ahhh, thanks! It did download the update while in standby, but patches always seem to post to downloads as soon as the system is on so I will have to check this out tonight when I get home.

I have mine plugged into a power strip with a back up battery, so the PS4 still has power if the power goes off briefly. I had a power outage that messed up the hard drive on the PS3, so since then, I always use a power strip with a battery.

the PS4 has a DTS decoder so you don't have to bitstream

I have the same issue. I checked it out tonight as soon as I got home from work and, after the update it still doesn't work. I hope it is in the next update.

Hmm, this is weird. Typically, when I exit standby mode, it goes through some x number of seconds boot process. Just a few minutes ago though, I put the system in standby while it was still downloading a demo but then I wanted to exit standby so I could check something. So, I hit the PS button and much to my surprise, it came on instantly. I thought I was mistaken so I tried it again with the same results (and just now tried it for a 3rd time and it worked again). So, I wonder if that means the suspend/resume is working. I hadn't actually tried that because I didn't think it was being added until later (I think the FAQ even said it wouldn't be there at launch). Or maybe certain things need the system to be more "awake" possibly?
Guess I'll try it with a game still running next to see what happens but I bet it won't work. Earlier today, I forgot I had Killzone running and was doing other stuff. The next time I was in the room I noticed the PS4 had turned off because of my power saving settings and when I hit the PS button to exit standby, it went through the boot process like normal. Edit: Weird, tried it with a demo running but it went through the boot process so I guess it means that the background download is keeping it in a state that wasn't like the normal standby mode. Maybe they have suspend/resume working for simpler things? Last edited by owa; 11-21-2013 at 07:54 AM. |

The file has to be started from notifications > downloads? No?
I believe mine was sitting there with "Ready to Install" & once I pressed x it took me to the status bar followed by terms of service followed by a reboot followed by a second & final status bar install window. Good times. ![]() |

I had that on both of my systems. "Preparing to install". I went to PSN where it told me that I had to update to the latest firmware. Selected update now. It DL'ed it again and installed properly the second time. Both systems.

I see that they finally allow us to search for a specific date range in our download list but unfortunately you cant apply any filters to search for the type of content (Plus offering, PS3 game, DLC, demo, etc....). While this would seem like an improvement, its probably worse than on the PS3 bc it doesn't display what the content is. It says Product Purchase instead which is what everything you download is (even if its a free demo). You have to click each individual item to actually find out what that purchase is which is an unnecessary extra step which slows things down. They really need to fix this
