After seeing how well the conversion of The Lion King looked with the preview before Cars 2 I really hope Disney offers similar conversions to others in there 90s animated catalog

Converting Walts originals could be problematic because Walt and most of those who made those movies are dead. But with the directers approval on more recent hits I think 3D conversions can be awesome.

So here's my two cents(or pennies as I live in the UK) worth.

'The Little Mermaid'(of course)
and, 'Aladdin'.

Both of them would make great 3D(as long as care was taken)--especially the magic carpet rides in the latter 'Aladdin'. And what about the climax of 'The Little Mermaid'? With all those ships being dragged up from the bottom. Now that would truly be awesome!

Let me know what you guys think.
The Little Mermaid cant be done it didn't use the CAPS system fully only a few scenes were digitally colored

And it wasn't remastered into a digital workprint like the two IMAX-tweakings were.

(Although Aladdin was the third...But that one doesn't have the zombified Money-Cult that Disney can turn to whenever they need to sell a brand name. All it is is just a good Musker & Clements film, which means it gets shoved aside, like Mermaid. )

I think it is reasonable to expect if these conversions fair well that we might also see at least Aladdin. Beast, Aladdin and Lion King were the only three titles that were redone for IMAX. (Though Aladdin's release was cancelled.)

Personally, I think Hunchbck of Notre Dame, Hercules and Tarzan would all benefit greatly, but we don't even have plans for them on 2D Blu yet. Honestly, I think sales of Beast, Nightmare, lion King and Toy Story on 3D Blu will decide whether Disney decides to invest in 3D for Aladdin and eventually other titles.

Though Mermaid is a great film, the cost of re-rendering in 3D would be muc more than the CAPS productions that followed Mermaid starting with Rescuers Down Under. These films retain depth layers that make it easier to bend the layers of artwork into a 3D experience. Therefore even though Mermaid is a popular title, and I won't write the idea of a 3D conversion off completely....I wouldnt bet on it at this time.

Default Wish list...

Hmmm... theres so many that could be on my "wish list" I think only Action or animation movies would convert well - transfering a chick flick or comedy would just really seem pointless

I'll top the list with the original "CARS" - a far superior movie to the sequel (but then, how many times do we see that?)

Area 51 could be quite cool (esp the "facehugger"puppy on the space helmet)
How about the Jurassic Park series?
and the original ghostrider
Pearl Harbor would be a good war/romance (shame about the latter) conversion - a good 3d conversion could give the attack scenes some real impact....

Of course being that i'm a Kiwi, you cant go past the Lord Of the Rings Trilogy......and HA! just for laughs - how about Sir Peter Jacksons 'Bad Taste"

+1 I'm really hoping these titles fare well for Disney. Hopefully it'll be lucrative enough to prompt some more conversions. I can't wait to see what 'The Lion King' is going to look like in 3D!

Hmmm I saw the cinema trailer for "The Lion King" in 3d before seeing "Cars 2" here in New Zealand...gotta say, It didnt look that impressive - but I guess working with the 2d style animation (and the flat animation palette) you cant get a real depth perception going....the end result kinda came across more like a "pop-up book" than a "3D movie" Lets just say it didnt inspire me to go and see it....

Just my opinion though....

United Kingdom Disney--and other--conversions

I think that goes without saying since Pixar movies are mainly created in a computer and it'll be relatively easy to go back and put a second camera in(as Dreamworks have done with the 'Shrek' franchise, not forgetting the films that got Pixar going--more or less--the first two 'Toy Story' movies).

Although not a Disney movie, there is a film I would give anything to see as a 3D blu ray disc and that's 'Starchaser: The Legend of Orin'(1985)(a bit of a 'Star Wars' rip-off but unique all the same). It was--to the best of my knowledge--the first full-length animated 3D feature.

John.

I thought Immortals was 3D? That said, I thought Rango was too...
This year, Sucker Punch and Apes should have been 3D.
Next year, I'd say Batman. Gotham always looks awesome. A bit of depth would do nicely.
Nearly everything else I wanna see is 3D. Star Trek isn't confirmed yet, but finger's are crossed!

Looks like a bit of fun that one. I might wait 'till blu-ray though. We'll see. I might be bored that week...
I didn't see the X-men movie this year. But from the previews it looked like it had some action sequences that could have benifitted from 3D.

Rango was not released in theaters in 3D.

I don't want to see the movie in 3D unless the filmmakers want it presented that way.
