I know I mentioned this film having a Matrix-like premise, but actually it would be fair to say something similar in tone to The Truman Show would be more suitable. Off the top of my head a subtext that emphasises mental strength and independence of thought instead of herd-like group think. The "main" Barbie emancipates her less developed copies, lol. Seems like a lark if approached with a touch of wryness. Good, uplifting fun.

As for Anne Hathaway, I never understood the hatred towards her.

Anne Hathaway as Barbie would be a HUGE improvement over your average generic Amy Schumer rubbish.

She can take what she did in "Colossal" and transplant it into a more mainstream, casual audience friendly experience.
