I only watched the first half of the game but Oregon's offense is just awful. They couldn't do anything. Boise blew a lot of opportunities early. They should have been scored touchdowns their first 2 drives and instead their kicker missed 2 field goals. I wonder if there's any realistic scenario where they could make the National Championship game. They are starting the year ranked fairly high so if they win out it's plausible but doubtful.
If its like that one season a few years ago where everyone was losing games they could sneak up in. I agree he should get suspended cause you can't justify violence but maybe now that guy won't smack talk BAM right in the kisser! lol that guy got dropped.

If they allowed Boise State into the national title game (not gonna happen) then it would be a huge travesty. Did you not watch them, they aren't anything special at all. Look like an average team to me. Just because they don't play anybody all year and beat an unbelievably overrated Oregon team shouldn't earn them a spot in title game. A one loss Big 12 or Sec team would still get in over them as they should.

Blount -- should be suspended indefinitely, like Bob Davie suggested. No matter what happens, you don't punch someone on the field. And you certainly don't go after fans.

WTF is wrong with these idiots.

You play for OREGON. You are not a thug if you play for OREGON, so don't pretend to be one.

That said, it's hilarious the little pansy for Boise State got dropped to his knees. Guarantee his girlfriend dumps him today...

Thursday Night Games. What a borefest. So. Carolina looks awful. NC State looks worse. Oregon and Boise State are either both overrated, or Boise State is REALLY good. I think it's the former.

I agree both overrated any other real top team would have capitalized hard on boise's mistakes and won the game.

The ONLY concession I'll make/give for any of the teams is that it was the first game.

But something tells me that's an excuse, and not the reason.

I agree that they don't deserve to get into the title game but what happens if it's like a few years back when LSU won the title with 2 losses. Would Boise make it if there they are undefeated and every SEC and Big 12 team has at least 2 losses? Unlike Utah last year Boise is starting the season ranking somewhat high so if they keep winning and there's a lot of upsets it's possible they could get into the top 2.

If that's the case (i.e., every team from the Pac 10, Big 10, SEC, ACC, and Big 12 has 2 losses), then Boise State should play for the national championship.

I only think it would only have to be the SEC and Big 12. I think Boise can make a case if they are undefeated and Penn State has 1 loss and Ohio State has 2, or if any ACC team has 1 loss, or if any Pac 10 team other than USC wins the conference with only 1 loss.

It's kind of sad how it works for a team like Boise State or BYU. People criticize their schedule because they don't play many tough games, but when they try to schedule games against big schools they are usually turned down. Why play Boise and risk losing when you can play a low I-AA team and win by 50? It's very rare that a team like Boise can get a home and home with a big conference school as well. Last night was the first time ever a top 25 team had ever played at Boise.

Hmm. I know UGA played them in the last 5 years. I don't know if it was a home and home...

EDIT: Ahh.. UGA played them in Athens in 2005. Beat the crap out of them.

I bet if you're his teammate, you'd blame him. They have Purdue, BYU, and Cal coming up. And your leading rusher won't be there to help you.

You have to be the bigger man when it comes to "team."

Yeah, that was the year before Boise State got really good. It was just a 1 game series, no return game. From 2004-2007 Georgia didn't play an out of conference game outside the state of Georgia, but they've gotten more aggressive in their scheduling with games at Arizona State last year and Oklahoma State this year.

We've got games at Colorado, Oregon, and Louisville, to name a few, in the coming years.

Here's ESPN columnist Bruce Feldman's prediction for last night's Boise St-Oregon game, which he picked Oregon to win 48-45:

"Expect a wild one in Boise, Idaho. Both teams have dangerous offenses. I had been leaning toward BSU, but after hearing about some of the losses to the middle of the Broncos' defense, I look for the Ducks to have a big night running the ball, especially 240-pound LeGarrette Blount and Chip Kelly's new "Tazer" attack."

Total yards rushing for Blount: -5. Total points for Oregon: 8. Total punches for Blount: 1.

You're right, I forgot about his teammate. If he wasn't restrained by a coach and 2 security guards he would have been throwing punches in the crowd.

This just goes to show we need a damn playoff system!!! I'm already sick of all the talk about teams running the table and who could get left out and blah, blah, blah. I'm tired of it already and only a handful of games have been played. In the NFL you don't have to worry about that sh*t, you just gotta get in the playoffs, no matter how many losses you pile up. I've always been a huuuge college football fan and have liked it better than NFL due to atmosphere, pageantry, fans, etc. but the stupid BCS system alone is starting to sway me the older I get more and more towards the NFL. Oh, and the Tebow sucking doesn't help either, SICK OF IT!!!!!

The BCS is not perfect by any means (ask the '04 Auburn team), but the best thing about it is that every game absolutely counts. Every game. Conference, non-conference, doesn't matter. You have to make sure to get the W every week. Again, I'm not a big BCS fan, and it doesn't work perfectly (even the BCS board themselves admit it), but it does work. Just my opinion.

I'll agree that every game counts. But what if Florida, Oklahoma, USC, Penn State, and Boise State all go undefeated? The BCS doesn't account for it.

I agree a playoff is needed.
