That entry was created in 2018 according to the change history.

But lately there has been other buzz / rumors about it being released this year, see e.g. posts in this thread:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=347617

However nothing has been announced or confirmed officially yet though.

You cannot use anything in the database as evidence of anything unless there's a release date associated with it. It's user generated. We have hundreds of entries without a release date.

Ok, strange. It was working yesterday, but now I cannot even find it by searching. Possibly it has been removed for some reason.

This week is the 110th anniversary of the sinking and December will be the 25th anniversary of the film. Hoping we might get an announcement soon.

No it's just a place holder for the inevitable 4K release, it doesn't mean a thing.

So much for the clickbait rumors that said this would be released in June.

There's no way Paramount would rush it so quickly to make it by June. It's a cash cow for them, so there's no way they wouldn't have announced it themselves. It's been a good seller for the past 25 years, so hopefully we'll be given a stacked definitive release. It'd be nice to see the teaser poster made into an embossed/debossed Steelbook.

It's a shame some people believe whatever some random person with a keyboard pulls out of their ass, sort of like the stupid Titanic/Olympic switch conspiracy theory or that ridiculous Q cult.

I’m guessing this is in the same place Aliens, The Abyss, True Lies, Avatar and The Terminator are. James Cameron’s To-Do list:

If Titanic isn't released this year, it will never be released.

There's no way Paramount would let that happen to their highest grossing catalog title. The movie is still insanely popular and it's only a matter of time until a UHD is released, whether it be this year or not.

If it were coming this year, we'd have heard about it by now.

Is anyone familiar with this website?
If so, how reliable is it?
According to it, Titanic 4K will be released on November 29. https://bluraymania.com.ua/catalog/f...4k-uhd-blu-ray
---------------------------------------------------------------
Ironically, on the official 20th Century Fox website, it says that the movie is available on 4K UHD

99.9% fake. They even used the crappy GeekGab artwork. The listing also says it's presented in 1.78 alnd 2.35, which doesn't make sense as only the 3D discs offered the 1.78 ratio.

Also, none of those links offer streaming it in 4K, just standard high definition.

'Titanic’: Remastered Version Set For Theatrical Release In Time For Valentine’s Day 2023

Quote:
EXCLUSIVE: To celebrate the 25th anniversary of James Cameron’s Titanic, the multiple Oscar winner and box office phenomenon has been set for a fresh theatrical release just in time for Valentine’s Day next year. A remastered version will be available in cinemas in 3D 4K HDR and high-frame rate with Disney releasing internationally beginning February 10, 2023, Deadline has confirmed. Paramount has domestic rights and is expected to also set its date in the coming days.

Cameron’s longtime producing partner and COO of Lightstorm Entertainment Jon Landau, fresh off a 36-hour plane journey from New Zealand, teased news of the Titanic rerelease at Disney’s CineEurope presentation in Barcelona today. There he showed off a 3D look at the remastered version.

The epic that made mega-stars out of Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio originally sailed into domestic movie theaters in December 1997, and rolled out over several months internationally. It went on to win 11 Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Editing, Best Original Song and more.

A 3D version then came out in 2012. In total, Titanic is the No. 3 movie ever at the global box office with $2.2B. Of that, $659.4M is from North America and $1.542B from overseas. Cameron’s Avatar is the top movie of all time worldwide.

The Titanic news follows Disney’s announcement at CinemaCon in April that Cameron’s original Avatar would get a remastered rerelease on September 23, ahead of the debut of the first sequel, Avatar: The Way Of Water. That film begins offshore rollout on December 14 and hits North America on December 16.

High frame rate? I guess there's some technology that allows extra frames to be interpolated from 24fps material?

Jackson had an entire trilogy and failed to sell us it. Lee had 2 films and failed to sell us it. It's over. HFR doesn't have any story telling purposes the same way sound, color, widescreen have. Even 3D can be used as a story telling tool compared to HFR.

2022 is the 25th anniversary though... not 2023 but okay.

I have no real interest in seeing this in HFR, but would love to see it again (hopefully in Dolby Cinema). HOPEFULLY this means the disc release is not far behind.

Titanic was shot at 24fps, so where are the extra frames coming from? I get the tech behind converting 2D into 3D, but not 24fps to HFR. It sounds interesting, but I have a hunch it'll look like the motion interpolation function built into TV's. Once you see the jaggies and motion artifacts that come with interpretation, you can't unsee them.

However, if Cameron is overseeing the 24 to HFR similarly to how he oversaw the 3D conversion, it might look pretty damn good and I'll definitely be checking it out.

I was bummed when we didn't get a UHD after it was released in Dolby Vision for its 20th anniversary. Maybe we'll get the 36 hour long cut this time!

Well, the Blu-ray dropped after the 3D re-release in 2012, so I guess this means we can expect the 4K a few months after the re-release next year. Jolly good.

This is truly the best news ever for us Titanic fans.
I would have preferred a Demeber 2022 release date, because that's the true anniversary month. But understandably, they couldn't have released a Cameron film while another Cameron film (Avatar) was playing.
