Why would it be backordered on a preorder? Wouldn't they order enough copies day one to fill all their preorders?

They usually show the status on the line as Backordered but if you see on the page with your orders listed and it says something like MANIAC ONLY PA or something like that (That was the only title I had on that order. that means they have stock for your order but yeah once you click on the order it will say Backorder ... all of my pre-orders thru them say that. Ignore that.

another example my DePalma set currently says DePalma Only


and When a Stranger Calls states PRE-ORDER and when you click into that order it will also say backorder. I always ignore that. Doesn't mean anything.

I’m glad the back ordered label isn’t an issue. Would have thought mine shipped by now if they’re sending out copies.

I just checked my order status again at DiabolikDVD. I ordered Maniac and Zombie together. On my order page, the status shows Maniac / Zbridge. Fingers crossed it ships soon.

I think they did a better job with the 3D effect on this lenticular slip IMO. Brighter colors and real depth to this one. The Zombie slip is nice but it takes a bit of effort to see the effect. I also love the thick cases BU uses for these multi-disc sets. Not in the mood to watch the film now but can't wait to check out the PQ and sample some of the extras when I get home tonight.

Skimming through the 4K remaster and...it's amazing.

You did good, Mr. Lustig. Glad to have (somewhat) kicked off some movement on this from my off the cuff 40th anniversary suggestion on Facebook.

EDIT: The "Maniac II: Mr. Robbie" short on Disc 2 is some weird alternate widescreen HD transfer different from the HD transfer on Severin's Combat Shock blu-ray.

Mine just arrived. I was fortunate to see the new restoration in theater but I’m enjoying this in the comfort of my home now. The film looks great and along with the packaging, this is probably behind Suspiria as release of the year.

Watching my copy. I havent see the film a lot in the past but when Frank shows up at Caroline’s apt there is almost a freeze as she is going to open the door. And another freeze soon after. I couldn't tell if that is the way it has always been or if it is a disc error.

I only skimmed through the first 20 minutes or so (not ready to sit and watch this one again just yet) and there were a couple of shots after the first kill of the victim which were "paused" - something I don't remember seeing on previous incarnations of the film on video. I've seen this before on other films and I think it's a form of revisionism. Maybe the actor playing dead can be seen "faking it" and the director isn't too happy about it and freezes the frame. It's kind of a pet peeve of mine (seeing people who are supposed to dead breathing or blinking their eyes) so if it were me I'd definitely be tempted to "revise" the shot

I noticed this as well, thought maybe my disc skipped.
