Not sure if anyone picked up on it, but that teaser trailer is set at a farm. Didn't Ray say he lost a farm in the first Ghostbusters? Maybe he got it back?

What is unclear is if any of the original members will return. Sources say that Reitman is on the lookout to cast four teens in the movie, two boys and two girls.
They could get Aykroyd and Hudson back, maybe have a grown up Oscar. That would be enough.

Cool little teaser. I always thought a possible premise for a Ghostbusters III could be that after years of work, the ghost problem eventually hit an all-time low and they gang eventually went out of business or some moved on while some stayed to just kind of keep an eye on things and bust the odd minor ghost here and there. Then something major happens that sparks a sudden increase in supernatural activity, forcing the team back together. (I think Ghostbusters Extreme worked on a similar premise but I never watched it.) I wonder if the teaser showing ECTO-1 covered up in a barn could suggest something like that.

I believe The Real Ghostbusters said Ray grew up on a farm, while in the movie he only mentions living in a house his parents gave him, without specifying if it was a farm or not.

Gotta love how Sony is just ignoring the 2016 reboot, controversies and the franchise set-up at the end of the film, due to the underperformance at the box office.

So much for Feig and the girlbusters, lol.

Ah I knew I heard it somewhere. I reckon it could be his place. After all he was a mechanic in the movies, working on the car. He could be at his farm working on fixing up the equipment/car.

There were a lot of people who felt obligated to like or hate the remake for reasons other than the actual quality of the movie. You think there will be any similar reaction with this movie? People hating on it as a way to "defend" the remake? Or people praising it as a way to bash the remake?

Unless it's trying to make a statement like having all transgender actors, like the 2016 had all women while making Hemsworth act like a bafoon since he was male, I doubt it. I'm sure if this is made it'll be wide open to criticize.

Now they need to get Bill Murray on-board. Then they should be able to convince Sigourney Weaver, Peter MacNicol, William Atherton and Annie Potts. Once they are also on board, it should be easy to get Rick Moranis to show up.

Yes, that is all extremely wishful thinking.

Honestly, they could make the next generation of Ghostbusters in this new film a mix of various minorities and not have a single problem, because no one worth listening to seriously cared that they were all women in the 2016 film. No, what they were pissed off about was that it was a remake instead of continuing the story as already established in the first two films. They wanted a handing of the torch film. They wanted the Ghostbuster equivalent, or something similar to what The Force Awakens did for Star Wars, wherein a new group of science misfits stumble across new paranormal activity and seek out the former heroes of New York who have fallen out of the public eye and into relative obscurity.

Sadly Moranis wont return to the Louis Tully role if its just doing the same thing. I respect why he retired and the fact that hes there for his family after his wifes tragic passing.

Quote:
In June 2013, Moranis gave an interview where he talked about reprising his role as Louis Tully in a third Ghostbusters film and his disappointment with the sequel. Moranis said "I haven't talked to Dan Aykroyd about it. Somebody he's associated with called me and I said, 'I wouldn't not do it, but it's got to be good.' You know, I'm not interested in doing anything I've already done, and I thought the second one was a disappointment. But I guess I'm interested in where that guy is now. I sort of see him as being Bernie Madoff's cellmate in jail. Both of them being so orderly that they race to get up and make their beds."[17] In 2015, regarding an offer for a brief appearance in the film, he concluded: "[Ghostbusters] didn't appeal to me. ... I wish them well. ... I hope it's terrific. But it just makes no sense to me. Why would I do just one day of shooting on something I did 30 years ago?"[3]

Yeah it is a long shot, like I said, wishful thinking. That's why I only think he'd truly come back if 1) most of the original cast returned 2) his part was written to a standard he'd agree with and 3) the pay being good for doing it. Even with all of those boxes checked, it's still uncertain what his decision would be, but at least with those things checked there would be a slightly better chance of it.

The funny thing is for all of Ghostbusters II's faults, the movie DID do something different with Tully. He now had a law degree(of sorts), romanced Janine, and became a Ghostbuster(of sorts).

As this appears to be an actual sequel to the original films, I think it would make sense for Ray (Aykroyd) to serve as something of a mentor to the new team. He would help with the tech and mostly be around the firehouse (or where ever this takes place, with the teaser showing some kind of barn or something).

Since Ernie Hudson is still in great shape, he could help train them "in the field" when catching ghosts.

Murray is the wild card. Honestly, while it would be cool for him to be in it, I would only want him there if he is going to be into it and give it his all. I don't want to see him "phone it in." It's better for him to not be there if that were to be the case.
Yeah, I think Reitman Jr can count on Aykroyd and Hudson to show up for the opening of an envelope, but he'd be better off writing Murray out of it from the start rather than hoping against hope that he'll deign to appear. Murray still needs to give his blessing, as GB lore tells it, but this franchise can and will continue without him, so unless they do something really outrageous re: disposing of Venkman then he needs to stop being such a tart about it.

You never know though. If the proper GBIII does well then they may resurrect the ladeez version, possibly as a lower budgeted option. A little spooky comedy-thriller rather than a big-budget 'saving the world' kinda movie could work well.

Hmmm, anything could happen. The budget really shouldn't be high for the 2016 film.

But it was, partly due to the megastar salaries.
