I like the steelbook art, but I still prefer my Blu-Ray limited series box (the wooden one). Stacked discs also scare me, so I'll likely just get the regular 4k set and replace the blu-ray discs with the 4k ones (in my current limited wooden set).

Only question I have...what about the extra's? Will the 4k set have the same extra's compared to the blu-ray limited box?

The standard box costs about half what of the seasons individually would and appears to come with separate cases so it’s not that bad of a compromise.

I can only speak for me, but I bought 1 and 8, watched them, and quickly resold them. I lost a little to see them in 4K early, but I assumed HBO was going to pull some stuff like they did with the Sopranos on blu-ray.

First rule of TV on Blu-ray club: never buy individual seasons of a catalog show. It will either be dropped or there will be a complete set released for cheaper instead.

GOT mirrors what happened to The Sopranos. First and last seasons were released, then nothing, then a box set.

Any word on what’s happening with the extras? I’ve held off on buying the blu-rays in the hopes a set like this would be released, but if it’s 4K discs only I can see the extras getting dropped along the way.

Yess!! This 4K BD Box set of Game of Thrones was near the top of my wishlist! Can't wait to get my hands on it, even if it will be very costly indeed. Will now sell my complete 8 season BD Steelbook set to compensate for some of the cost.

Yes.. releasing the first season and the last in a new format.. and waiting a couple of years for a complete set. It’s The Sopranos all over again, HBO’s standard operating procedure.

I'm avoiding this post like the plague, since as been said many times, the majority of 4k discs are "upscales" to some extent, and some of the best looking 4K discs are "upscales".

Put my preorder in for the steelbook.

Yeah 2K DI’s get a bad rap. Not to mention HDR is the real prize with this show with all the dark scenes and awesome vfx.

No, the third season inexplicably doesn’t have any HDR.

This is unbelievably cheap. Equivalent of £165. £20 a series is about half what it would be for individual releases. Hope the UK set can match it otherwise I might just have to import.
