Of course, one of the reasons Jean was considered boring was that the main book in which she featured had been reprinting stories from five years earlier. The original Uncanny X-Men only ran original stories for it's first 66 issues (until 1970), then they started reprinting the old stories for the next five years (not quite 30 issues on a bi-monthly schedule). In 1974-75 most stories about Jean were from 1970 or earlier. If you remember how much the stories about Sue Storm changed from 1970-75 it gives you an idea how "boring" Jean Grey would seem in '75.

My memory is always fuzzy when it comes to reading comics. But sometimes I look at this cover (below) and I go like, yeah. Jean is clearly not keeping up, lol!

You can always tell how useful a character is when you take away their powers.

Wolverine, Storm, Beast, and Nightcrawler can stand on their own without powers. Most of the rest of the X-men are useless if they do not have powers.

Jean is a power set and not a well developed character. After 60 years that is pretty sad.

I've been wondering this for awhile now, but will Jean even be in the first MCU's X-Men movie? Marvel is known for not repeating things that other studios done in the past, and the Dark Phoenix storyline has been done to death already. Marvel will probably try to tell another epic story for X-Men's endgame.

The story will depend on how they introduce them. The Krakoa story was good from the start, yet has gone sideways because they are just retreading things now.

It would be a good idea to have the original team there though. They need to forge a new path for Jean.

I've lost all respect for you

And lol that inferior clone, who was written off as soon as she came around? Her most interesting characteristic was that she looked identical to Jean but even then she had absolutely no personality until she became Dark Phoenix 2.0.

The 90s TV show came way after the Phoenix Saga. If you're going to make a fake argument against her, at least get your facts straight.

That's because it's never existed. The haters like to use it as ammunition since they have no real arguments against her.

It sounds like, and I could be completely wrong, but they are going to make a mutants movie first before X-Men. Almost like MCU's version of The Gifted. Makes sense. X-Men showing up out of nowhere would be weird.

Also it depends what you mean by original team. Some people seem to confuse the 90s team as the original team. They should just add characters that best suits the movie. X-Men lore is too big now to just go back to square one again. Even you admitted that the 70s team had the best characters.

Good taste. My top five is almost the same but I have Psylocke instead of Rogue.

Just like Rogue and Carol.
Shadowcat and her first time in the X-mansion.

Storm is the only female X-men character to have multiple interesting storylines.

Havok was the more interesting Summer, until Cyclops became a terroist.

Magneto is going back on trial again, because they have no clue what to do with the character.

You are missing decades of storyline then.

I agree with you on Havok though, Cyclops is such a dirtbag.

Lol, rating Jean based on 60s stories when all of the women were treated like inferiors. That's the best you got?

Warren is the original X-Man who got kidnapped the most. Read the Silver Age stories, Jean was worlds apart from Sue and her power was more consistent than Wanda. She wasn't just around to flirt like Janet either.

This is very clearly an opinion and a terrible one at that. But you do you.

Phoenix happened because a new writer and artist were working on X-men not cause of a company 'plan'.

My favorite issue is her battling Rogue in Uncanny Xmen...might be my favorite Jim Lee Cover as well.
Providing the Box Office fully recovers by the time this film releases, it should make over a billion like the first film I'd imagine.

It got a high Cinemascore from general audiences when it released, and the only thing setting it back will be the title. The trailers for this film are going to have to do a lot of work to establish that this is the sequel to Captain Marvel.

I think the only people who would confuse the 90s team as the original are cartoon bandwagoners.
